Flashing firmware update

I am trying to upgrade my firmware on my mxq using this http://chinagadgetsreviews.blogspot....42_24.html?m=1 firmware and amlogic usb tool. When I insert a toothpick in the hole and power on the box just resets and does not enter recovery mode so I can flash using my PC. There is no sdcard version available that I could find.

Can anyone help me? What am I doing wrong?

It sounds like either the image is wrong for your device, or your device is not reading your SD Card. Try using another SD Card and re formatting it to fat32 and make sure 3 files are in the root directory of the SD Card for example: m201-ota-20150725.zip, factory_update_param.aml, recovery.img. Before flashing any image/update, I recommend doing a Full backup of your device with TWRP(Team win recovery project) I use version 2.8.7.0 and it works fine on my V03 OTT MXQ 1gb S805. I have backed up and restored many times and it always works 100%
