    Pipo M9 Max 4.2.2 RileyROM 1.5

This is based on the 5/29 firmware update released by Pipo. Your guess is a good as mine on what they fixed. I'm expecting another update soon that will hopefully fix Netflix...they did it for the M8 Pro.

    This ROM is:

    Rooted
    Debloated
    Init.d support
    Busybox links added
2, 4, 6, 8 or 12 gig user app space by choosing the appropriate parameter file.
    Working CWM Recovery

    Thanks to:

Tattman65 for his boot animation graphics
    Petrus for Reboot.apk
    900Supersport for his flash tool
    Fun for his CWM Recovery

There is the link to the download page:

For those of you with the 3G version of this tablet, I just posted a ROM for that version.

If anyone has an OLD PCB version and you would like me to do a ROM, feel free to ask. I don't know about the demand for this version...so I'll cook it on an as needed basis.

      Test

      Hi,

I tested the ROM and the 12GB userapp is good. But the Play Store has problems and many apps are incompatible. Even the simple apps shows as not compatible

I will double check, but I'm pretty sure I added the required fixes to allow all apps to show as compatible (as I do in all of my ROM's)

It must be something in the firmware that's different.

I have heard that changing things like screen resolution and user app space has a side effect of making Play Store problems. It may be looking at your available internal storage...which is greatly reduced by the 12 gig user app space.

Tried the latest build on 3G unit, the app store has problems, error 491, cleared the cache and davik cache, mentioned in other forums, still the same. Had to go back to stock build. I used the Parameter6g file, not sure if this makes any difference.

Hmmm that isn't the first time I heard that with bigger user app space. I'll have to do some checking.

Can you flash the 2gb parameter file and verify for me that that's the problem?

              Hello Randy.

I have Pipo M9 3G. Tested ROM 1.5 (2GB, no modification). I also cannot install apps from playmarket (Error 491). Also I cannot download APK files using the stock browser. In Downloads it looks like empty file <Unknown> with status Unsuccessful. Waiting for your thoughts / fixes. Keep up the good work! Thanks!

                  Hi Randy

I tested with the default parameter file, and get the same result as donga, again error 491 when downloading apps from the Google Play Store.

Let me know if there's anything else to try, else I'll be going back to the Pipo stock Rom

                      It works great!

All the waste is fine for me, though the boot screen is a bit too much.

Thank you very much for your work!

Did you happen to do a restore with Titanium? Or did this problem occur before the restore?

                          Have you tried this?

Delete your Google account from accounts & sync. This might be a problem, since it won't let you delete a Google account, if it's the only Google account...but if you can figure out a way...try it.

Reboot to recovery, wipe Cache +dalvik.
                          Reboot.
                          Add your Google account.

When I do a Titanium restore, I always use the Restore Missing Apps with data. This keeps it from overwriting any of the system apps/data which messes things up.

If you can't follow the procedure above because it won't let you delete your Google account...you might have to do a fresh flash after erasing IDB. When CWM comes up, clear the cache and boot.

Before you do a Titanium Restore, set up Play Store and see if you get the same error.

                              Randy,

Can you explain how to make the debloated image for Pipo M9 3G? I want to modify the latest original firmware (M9 software_3G_new pcb_english version_20130529(no need key) 2013-05-29) and remove the chinese stuff one by one. Now I'm on vacation and have some time. May you please give all the steps (maybe a patch/script?) which can be applied to original firmware? I already have some basic knowledge about Android Kitchen. If your work isn't close-sourced I'd be greatful for any info where I can start from. All credits go to you. (and I'll buy you a beer later.)
