Wich model do i need ?

I want to stream 1080P / (maybe 3D) movies from my device to my 60" samsung tv (read that the devices somtimes do better with fps on smaller tv's .. true ? and why ?).

    What i tried so far:
MK809 IV - Low fps at 1080P, tried to overclock a little and ended up burning the device.
Mk809 III - Even worse at 1080P - stll working though, will install cyan tonight i guess and give a go.

Tried downloading a movie on both to make sure it was the playback that was problem - True on both.

I am currently looking at a device with following stats:
CPU: Amlogic S812 Quad core Cortex A9r4 2.0 GHz.
    GPU: Octa-core Mali-450MP GPU @ 600MHz.
    RAM: 2GB DDR3; ROM: 8GB EMMC.

Might the increase in GPU and CPU help ? or is the problem related to the software ?

Any suggestions for a device that might be of interest to me ?

    Thanks in advance.

Take a look at either the MXIII-G or the Tronsmart MXIII Plus. Both of these devices are based on the S812 and support Kitkat, Lollipop and OpenELEC firmware from several different sources. This is one of the main reasons why this device is so popular. You could also look at one of the Tronsmart Vega S95 devices which are based on the latest Amlogic S905 processor.

Here is a YouTube review of the MXIII-G running Lollipop as well as a print review from XDA Developers which shows the extensive video format support using Antutu Video Tester.

So if we are going to compare the S905 to the S812 .. wich do you think would perferm best at playback 1080P ?

      Thanks for the input

@philippeb: Unfortunately I don't have either of the two machines to do a proper comparison but I think that the performance at 1080p should be similar. The S812 should perform slightly better at games as it has more graphics cores (8 vs 5) but the S905 should be capable of 10 bit h.265 4K 60fps playback if required.

The Tronsmart S95 Vega devices include VidOn Kodi which supports 3D MKV, 3D BDMV, 3D ISO, BD-J menu navigation, DTS-HD, True HD and 7.1 Passthrough which might be of interest if you are planning to watch 3D movies etc. This software would normally cost $15 annually if purchased separately for the MXIII-G.

I can PM you more links and suggestions regarding the MXIII-G/S95, useful streaming services, apps and airmouse options if you want any more information.

Thanks a lot for all the help.
So, i have decided on the S905 since i rather have streaming quality over gaming (i can allways turn on one of my consoles for that *lol*).

But let's be honest .. i am never gonna use that 3d feature on my tv .. its just another stupid gadget i will never have use for, but its cool for showoff.

So i was considering buying one of these 2:

          http://www.****.com/itm/MXQ-S905-Kod...kAAOSwYIhWlfep

          OR

          http://www.****.com/itm/Mini-MX-Smar...0AAOSwll1W1RY1

So, the MXQ-S905 is considerable cheaper than the Mini-MX and only diffrence is the RAM so far as i can see ?
Is there any reason i should go and pay 70% more for the Mini-MX ?

I dont know how much ram i takes to playback to be honest, so i where hoping to get a little help on the last part here.

Or would you still take the S95 Tronsmart device to be superior ? and if yes, would you care to elaborate ?

Noted ! Very good point, in the jungle of names i did never think to quality check using firmware updates.

Now, Tronsmart 1GB or 2GB ram ? wich and why ?

I did choose for the Meta 2 gig RAM . and also better Wi-Fi than the pro . The one with 2 gig and 16 intern memory even have the best Wi-Fi and the possibillity to connect a SATA drive directly.

Id avoid all the S8** chipsets, as they cant do 10bit HEVC. The S812 might be a stronger chip than the S905 in overall benchmarks, but the S905 has hardware Hi10p decoding which is 1000x more important if you're using it as a media player.

Always go with as much ram as you can afford... Though if you're sticking with 1080p or less, 1gb should be sufficient.(the 1 and 2gb models on geekbuying for the vega s95 are the same, so obviously go with the 2gb one. The extra $40 for the better wifi chip, and SATA port on the TELOS model isnt worth it imo.)
