    Wifi issues

Hi freaktab comunity, just bought a T428 on geekbuying and setup the wifi config with my router, all ok, when suddently I noticed that the connection droped. I wasn't downloading anything so I started to look into the connection proprieties and it never passed 6mbps, it was so sluggish, I personally never witnessed nothing like that. The T428 is completly stock and I'm very unhappy with the unit. Is this why geekbuyng offered an usb to ethernet adapter?? Does everyone have this issue? It's impossible to work with this type of speeds...

    Thanks in advance.

I have the Imito QX1, which is similar to T428 but has an optional external wifi antenna. This is what I've found: with external antenna, no problems at all. WIth ethernet adapter, no problems at all (tells you the MK3188 has no general network issue).
With internal wifi, I found issues with my USB keyboard dongle (from Logitech) seeming to lower wifi signal. If I put the dongle right on the Mini PC I get poor wifi and disconnects every 20 minutes. With the dongle on a USB hub, it worked much better. The logitech dongle is tiny and also has a small extender - strangely the wifi worked better when I didnt use the keyboard extender. Not sure if this will help you at all, but you migt try moving your keyboard dongle to a usb hub (of course if you're using BT or a USB keyboard, this won't help at all).

Well I got tired, I opened the T428 and man, that was a nice surprise, the case of the T428 was decresing the signal, now I have the wifi wire and antena outside of the T428 box and it works flawlessly, always on 65mbps never droping the conection. Well do you think geekbuying will trade the T428 for the QX1? For what I red it performs a lot better in terms of wifi, even the max speed is better without the external antena:150mbps. Ahh and I already have several external antennas, so I can even use one of mine.

Man, don't know what's happening with my T428... Tested with finless 1.5A and stock 4.2.2 and it's all the same: When I search for wireless networks and connect to mine, it says that it's at 65mbps, when is connected, it drops to 5mbps and there's any connection, it says it's connected, but there's no connection, do you suggest finless 1.4 or is it hardware related?? The thing is that I already got it to work with constant 65mbps connection...

Hello mate, not pretending to have a fix for you but I was just wondering if you have updated the firmware on your router recently ?
I had exactly the same problem with my old mx2 stick and when I factory reset then upgraded the router firmware it worked fine afterwards.. strange thing is everything else worked fine just the tv stick gave me grief.

Router is an asus diamond not sure if yours is the same?

I have one from my ISP, it's a netgear, but I also have a Asus WL-500GP v2 (54mbps) and it's the same, even with my S4 serving as an AP it connects then stays at 5mbps doing nothing... If it isn't a known issue, I think my T428 has a problem...

Get wifi analyzer from Google Play and try changing your channels. This sometimes helps this problem.
It drops due to possible other 2.4 signals on the same channel.

Here's the thing: If I use the T428 downstairs with the antenna inside the casing (stock look) It connects at 65mbps and then drops to 5mbps without having a real connection. If I get the antenna out of the case, it works like is supposed to: 65mbps all the way, upstairs in my room that is the floor that I have the wifi router on, i behaves like downstairs but always at 5mbps, I think that this is software related, I wonder if anyone has thair stock far away from the router....

I had the same problems - wifi router in the basement, tv and stick on the floor above. T428 was stuck at 5Mbps and was near useless. I'm using a Logitech K400r external keyboard as well.

Have had to do a number of arrangements and rearrangements to get this going...

                    1. Swapped out the ISP supplied wifi router with my own Netgear 3700v2 and a homegrown firewall/router that handles the DSL connection and leaving the wifi to the Netgear.
                    2. Enabled 5GHz network for the TV alone and activated "Video Network" which is supposed to prioritize streaming services
                    3. Bought new power adapter for the T428, 5V, 2A

Now it connects (and works) at 65Mbps constantly.

I've also dropped 1080p to 720p resolution to keep it from overheating. Running it on 1920x1080 resolution made it overheat and drop wifi altogether, requiring a shutdown to cool off and work again.

All in all it's now working somewhat like it should have out of the box. I do find it ridiculous to have to jump through this amount of hoops to get a plug n' play tv stick to work as intended. This was meant to be a quick way to enable the TV to be used for the kid watching kids' programs while the wifey or I did housework, cooked dinner and the like. While I like to tinker and figure things out, I'm not impressed nor amused.

Same wifi issue with the t428.
Works flawless once the antenna is out of the case!
