Help for purchasing android tv box

    Hi guys,

I am thinking of buying an android tv box for my tv. I got a bit confused with the many types and features available around, so I would be grateful for any advice on it. This is what I actually want, in terms of features:

    A. Must-have features

    1. Playback support for all popular video and audio formats and especially 1080p@24fps/50fps/60fps content (mp4 & mkv files). It does not matter what the software player is, as long as the files play properly.

2a. Usb hub and wired ethernet built-in, OR
2b. ability to connect an external usb hub (with its own power supply, if needed), in order to attach simultaneously
    a. air mouse/keyboard (like Mele F10 or Ipazzport KP-810-16A)
    b. usb to wired ethernet adapter
    c. external usb sticks and hard disk drives
    d. at some point a camera for skype calls

    3. Decent speed in browsing of internet sites and support for sites with streaming content through Adobe Flash, like youtube and BBC

    4. Good support with software updates.

    B. Optional features

    1. XBMC proper support (especially for 1080p@24fps/50fps/60fps content). From what I've read this is not yet actually available in any tv box but is in the works for quite a few of them and may be available in the near future. As long as there is at least one software media player that supports 1080p@24fps/50fps/60fps playback and I can use a browser for streaming content over the internet, I won't mind.

    C. Not needed features

    1. Wifi
    2. Bluetooth
I don't use wifi at home, since I have ethernet cabling in every room and don't plan to enable my router's wifi just for the tv box. All streaming content from other machines in my home will be done over wired ethernet. As for bluetooth, if the ocasion arises I will try to connect a bluetooth dongle through usb -- if it works, fine, if not I probably won't care.

    3. CPU-intensive game support.
I won't probably be playing games on the tv box, at least not really demanding on the CPU ones. Actually, if I play any game at all it'll be the first time in 20 years :-)

    Any suggestions please?

for a dual core I recommend mk808 w/finless rom - it has been thoroughly tested and works very well

for quad core you have several new options - maybe read some of the user reviews in some of the different forums...
it seems the tronsmart mk908 is supported here and these guys make awesome roms so it might be a great choice
      Have a Great Day!!!!

finless Bob has a cx-919, and has already done a a 4.1 and 4.2 rom

I'd expect issues with the roms to be sorted quiet well as he actually has one. (also a QX1 I think )

I see the QX 1 is also popular as well as the tronsmart one mentioned.

I'm giving it a month before I get one but am looking towards the CX 919

Currently have a Justop K9B ( Mk809II with BT ) running on stock and it's doing what I need it to do fine
