    Mass update with Apps+data

    Hi,

I'm looking to prepare around 10x MK808B for friends. My goal is to find a way to flash the custom rom, cwm recovery and all apps + their data (some have their data on sd, like XBMC), ideally in one step.
My current workflow looks like this:
    1. I flash Finless 2.1 with Bob's flash tool
    2. I run Bob's flash tool again, but this time I untick all boxes except recovery. Here i chose the cwm recovery.img extracted from the cwm flashable zip.
    3. When cwm is booted up I restore a NAND backup I had created on another device before. This restores all apps and system settings (unfortunately it does not restore app data of apps that have their data on sdcard, like XBMC, see next step)
    4. I reboot to recovery and install from zip a flashable zip I had created in TitaniumBackup. It contains xbmc AND its data
    5. Reboot to Android. Now, Titanium won't restore the data yet because it doesn't have su permission. So I have to open Titanium once.
    6. Reboot to Android again. Now it will restore Xbmc's data

As you can see that's quite a few steps to go through.
So, is someone out there, who can think of a way these steps can be reduced? Perfect would be a way, where I don't need the TV. Meaning, I can do the whole update process just with the computer
    I'm open for all suggestions.

    Chris

step 1. give device to friends.
step 2. let friends deal with it all.

Actually I recently found a way to flash /data with the ROM. It is a backup made even without ADB.

However.... when you backup /data you are backing up YOUR user account and all data related to YOUR account!

So if your doing this for friends or whatever, how do you expect to be able to flash their own Google Accounts etc?

That my friend is not possible easily!

          Bob
"Pzebacz im, bo nie wiedzą, co czynią"
"Прости им, они не ведают, что творят"
"Perdona loro perché non sanno quello che fanno"
"Vergib ihnen, denn sie wissen nicht, was sie tun"
"Vergeef hen want ze weten niet wat ze doen"
"Pardonne-leur car ils ne savent pas ce qu'ils font"
"Perdónalos porque no saben que lo que hacen"
"Oprosti im, jer ne znaju što čine"
"Forgive them as they know not what they do"

            Thanks, Bob.
I didn't add a Google Account. Xbmc isn't even on Google Play so that's not necessary. The only reason I do this is because I have a lot of different addons that aren't in public repositories. So when I give them a fully setup Xbmc install they won't annoy me with questions (like I am annoying you guys right now :-))

Can you share your way of flashing app data without ADB?

How about making a nandroid backup from cwm, and use this on the to-be-configured- sticks. You can easily install cwm without root. I don't know however if with this method you get the new sticks exactly as the 1st, as I don't know if u get the 2gb user app space u get flashing with the ROM tool

This is the method I'm using atm (see first post). Unfortunately it does not restore any app data that was on sdcard (Android/data/foo). Plus, like you said, I have to flash the ROM using Bob's tool first to make sure partitions are the same. Stock rom is different.

@Bob: Any luck with the non-adb method?
