Wow, home computer replacement.
I don't know if that's possible. Only because it depends on what you need a computer to do.
Since your familiar with Android, you may already be aware of what it can and cannot do in that regard. Just from replacing a computer point of view.
That being said, you can do a lot with on of these sticks. I find I need to use Windows on my laptop though because some things Android just doesn't do, or do as well as a traditional computer.
Right now, I wouldn't recommend either models you're considering. They have too many bugs. For me, the video playback is choppy and unsteady. Some people are having wi-fi issues and bluetooth problems.
Look at one of the older models. It will be about half the price and will much more stable.
A lot of people like the Minix Neo X5. I have an Imito MX1 that gets a lot of use.
Even though they aren't the latest models, they have had more bugs ironed out. So consider that. It would be a better experience and cost less for now.
Then you'll be able to see for yourself what functions they can and cannot replace compared to a home computer.
Best of luck!

cx-919 hands down, for me video has been very good, best of the 4 models I've tried except maybe the cs868 which has an 8 core graphics chip and can play 4k video. It was a tough decision between the cx-919 and cs868 but I ended up keeping the cx-919 because of the faster clock speed and excellent Wi-Fi(not one drop in over a month of use. Here is how I rate the four I've tried: cx-919, cs868, mk908, t428

Are you kidding me? The cx-919 has already proven to have superior Wi-Fi and video than all the rest. Why give bad advice? What in the world are you talking about?

Chill out dude.
Plenty of people besides you don't have problems with the MX 1.
I don't have the cx-919 but I've read enough of the reviews to form my own opinion. It's not up to speed yet.
In time I'm sure the quad core sticks will improve.
You're obviously passionate about it. That's great.
Read the question from the OP and what the intended use is. Feel free to make your own recommendations.
I'm not an expert, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express once.
