NEO G4 NETFLIX not happening:(

hello fellow freaktabers,

i recently purchased a minix neo g4 and am having a little trouble.
when i watch netflix it runs for 5-15 min. and then stalls.
some stalls are easily restarted and some freeze the system and require a reboot.
the device otherwise works well as a media player and streaming youtube content.

i have flashed the 0117 rom to the device and am using wifi with a very strong signal on channel 6 from an actionec v1000h router from telus.

i have searched the forums for an answer to this problem without finding a solution so any help is appreciated

Netflix is using a proprietary video format since around May or so.

It's unstable period. Some hardware has more issues than others.

They're abandoning Silverlight and flash. I think they call they're setup Jplayer. I may be wrong.

They're implementing HTML5 in a way that hooks through DRM. So, in essence they crapped the bed and are trying to work the bugs out.

I don't have a G4 but have noticed Netflix being inconsistent on many different platforms lately.

For me, letting a program buffer a short while helps. Also freeing up system resources seems to help prior to starting Netflix. In theory you shouldn't have to do this in Android, but it does help.

Make sure you have good air flow around your stick and that it's not overheating too.

Finally, if you can try Ethernet. I have more stability issues on Wi-Fi than on Ethernet.

as you can imagine that is not what i wanted to hear.

do you know if this situation is one that netflix knows about and is trying to remedy?

or if not then is there an online petition for netflix subscribers demanding a remedy?

ok good news

i watched a youtube video that said older versions of the netflix app work better that the new one.

i deleted the app then downloaded the version 1.8.apk from a website and installed it.

it streams video perfectly to my minix neo g4

ok not so good news

the 1.8 version of netflix is definitely better but not perfect in regards to stability

still waiting a better answer from netflix...
