I've got a problem with my AML Mini M8S S905 which is rooted and on stock recovery. Good box but bad situation because of almost non-existent support.
There are a lot of issues that need to be told, so I'll list them here:
1. I'm a noob. I used to root my phones over 4 years ago and even then used I foolproof methods. Thankfully this box came ROOTED.
2. Problem began by me wanting to save space, so I tried to find a way of using USB as internal storage. I used an app like Android2USB or something and it didn't work(at least I think it didn't). This meant messing with some boot files (I think that's what they were)
3. I then tried(successfully) to bind the '/data' folder to USB stick. It worked! All large data was being stored on 32GB USB.
*4. This is when the stupidity began. I deleted what I thought were unneeded system apps, which meant browser and play store no longer worked, although other Google apps and Internet was still working.
€*5. I then did something even more ridiculous by getting a titanium backup of the same device and trying to restore those system apps. They all failed to install and made it worse. Because the Android ID and Google account was different it caused more crashes and unusable apps, especially the Google related apps; including YouTube.
Here's what I tried since:
- Attempted flashing GApps (unsuccessful).
- Contacted the supplier who managed to get me the latest firmware (400mb zip= 800mb img)
- Tried flashing that zip but get 'E cannot load volume/misc!'As well as footer and signature issues.
I can't flash it with the Update and Backup and my device wouldn't get detected on AML USB tool because no OTG USB slot.
My only solution is to get apps working somehow, boot SD card for which I need files i don't have or TWRP/CWM.
I don't know how to get custom recovery on this box so it's signature signing or SD card boot.
Can any one please offer some suggestions on how to solve this?
