Beelink Mini MX III keep changing the HDMI mode even though auto HDMI mode is off

I have this box hooked up to a 4K TV, but I don't have any 4K content, plus it seems more sluggish in 4K mode, so I shut off the auto-HDMI mode and set it to 1080p. However, every time I turn the TV off and back on, the MX III changes itself to 4K2K. How do I keep this from happening?

It looks like all my S905 boxes are acting this way. (Mini MX, Mini MX III, T95). My S805 and S812 boxes work fine and stay in 1080P mode.
