    Pipo Ultimate U1 RileyROM 1.0

This is based on the first firmware update released by Pipo on 10-31-12.

Pipo created two different versions of the U1, this is for the Ultimate U1 version, NOT the Pro version (See the U1 Pro thread if you have the U1 Pro tablet).

    This ROM is:

    Rooted
    Debloated
    Init.d support
    Busybox links added
2, 4, 6, or 8 gig user app space by choosing the appropriate parameter file.

    Thanks to:

Tattman65 for his boot animation graphics
    Petrus for Reboot.apk
    900Supersport for his flash tool
    Fun for his CWM Recovery

There is the link to the download page:

I have now installed your ultimate PiPo UpU1 RileyROM v1.0 and I wish you to know it is absolutely the best customized ROM that I have tried thus far. And, I have tried several.

I am especially happy to really have "Root". I read with interest the "ReadMe First" note with regard to CWM. Because of the note message I elected to try something different than what you outlined. I downloaded and used PiPo U1 CWM Recovery v5.5.0.4, but only flashed the recovery.img file. I then pressed the "Power" button to reboot. Everything loaded and the tablet is working normal to the best of my knowledge. No error messages were encountered.

To test CWM, I inserted a microSD card into the tablet and pressed the required "Three" buttons (ESC + Volume+ and Power) to bring up CWM. I did a normal Backup to the external_sd which was accomplished. I have yet to use any other features of CWM, so I really do not know if my "short cut" is completely valid.

My only criticism of the ROM is the bootanamation. The primary animation looks like it was designed for a 10" tablet because it is cut off on the right side and, shows a header of "PiPo U1 Pro"?

I replaced the RileyROM bootanimation.zip with the PiPo factory bootanimation.zip (/system/media/). However, the Riley badge and other animation still boots and is now followed by the PiPo bootanimation I installed.

Could you explain how I might boot only the PiPo bootanimation installed in the /system/media directory?

PS - With my PiPo UpU1 now in good order I am ready to try a RileyROM on my PiPo M8Pro 3G.

Come on...I have to keep my signature somewhere. Hahaha!!!!

For some reason this particular tablet does strange things with the boot screens. I have tried several different settings...but I haven't quite perfected it.

The badge is embedded in the kernel. How it is done is a well kept secret...sorry.

I absolutely understand and agree you need to add your signature, but the animation that follows is just to cheeky. Could we at least delete that, after all it is running on a UpU1 and not a PIPO U1 PRO.

Tell me the resolution and I will have Tattman65 do another animation.

From my software marketing prospective of many years, I would add some understated elegance to your boot logo. The "Black Android" animation by fullygeneric001 would be my choice. The PiPo screen resolution is 1280x743. Then, after your signature badge and the obligatory "Android", the users of the RileyROM are on their own as far as adding a different bootanimation.zip.

            Keep up your good work.

Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder. While the Freaktab team will continue displaying the Tattman artwork, the user is always welcome to change the bootanimation as he/she pleases. That is a fundamental right of Android...hahaha.

Frankly, I put this ROM out in a hurry for somebody...and I forgot to have a special screen done for it.

I will update it. Maybe you will like what Tatty comes up with.
