    MXQ Pro + 4K S905 2GB/16GB Recovery

I had previously bricked my MXQ Pro + 4K S905 2GB/16GB with a bad flash. I bought this box from Everbuying (http://www.everbuying.net/product1164624.html). It would hang at the Bootscreen logo and the toothpick method had no response when attempting to boot into recovery mode while plugged into the TV.

I was finally able to recover the box!

Get a Male to Male, USB-A to USB-A cable to plug the box into your computer.
    http://www.amazon.com/C2G-Cables-541.../dp/B003VTZ07U

Download and install USB Burning Tool 2.0.7
    https://mega.nz/#!04EDWDLQ!EGJM1sFU2...NgjFan0fzTxQRs
    Original source link http://aml.technikexpert.com/amlogic...v2.0.7_x86.rar
(I can't seem to find where exactly I found this particular version, I've spent hours over several days attempting to recover the box and have lost track of that particular tab)

    Download Firmware .img file (aml_upgrade_package0429.img)
    https://mega.nz/#!JtFRTLAT!XE2m7cmuW...3Dpj6OTMFvBK3c
    Sourced from http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-...878#post573878

    Launch USB Burning tool 2.0.7
-Select the second drop down menu and select English
-Plug one end of the USB cable into your computer
-(Do not use the power cable for the box, It can boot and run off of just the USB cable) Use the toothpick method to press the reset button inside of the AV hole in the back and plug the other end of the USB cable into USB-4 on the MXQ box (This is the only port that allowed USB Burning Tool to recognize my box) It only took a couple seconds for USB Burning tool to recognize my box. You can then release the reset button.
-Select the File drop down menu and select "Import Image"
    -Select "aml_upgrade_package0429.img"
-Click the "Start" button (I did not change any settings, the erase flash/normal erase and erase bootloader check boxes were already selected)
-After 5-6 seconds the timer stopped and I received an error message stating something about the bootloader (sorry I forget exactly what it said) Do NOT hit "STOP" or anything else!
-Unplug the MXQ box and Plug it back in while holding the reset button with a toothpick again. At this point the USB Burning Tool should automatically restart the install sequence and complete it without any errors. It took about three and a half minutes with my computer. When it was done I simply unplugged it from the computer and hooked it up to my TV.

I have the box hooked back up to my TV in what appears to be full working order.

    I hope this helps people.

    Thanks Zippy611

Have you tried to upgrade Kodi to the latest 16.1 version? or install any other app.
I think the correct way is using the appinstaller application from my apps and side load Kodi from USB.

Please let us know (I am still waiting for mine to arrive by post)

Thanks Zippy611, register just for say THANKS!!!! My box still working fine but knowing that there is a way back still the best!

After loading the aml_upgrade_package0429.img, do you have any change from the firmware itself, can you kindly take a photos of the About tab?!? Software information, build number etc...

@orig1: mine box have Kodi 16 pre-installed, i think 16.1 is quite buggy by the way. The truth is i quite busy these days so don't have time to fully testing this box.

First impression: this firmware don't have the home, back, menu bar in the bottom, so weird! the box not really smooth but not that lagg as well. The worst thing that this box came with google play but most of popular apps can't be installed directly using google play (incompatible)

Hope that we might have an better firmware for this BOX!

*Note* Even though the network information screenshot shows 5ghz as "Not Supported", this MXQ box does have working 5GHz wifi.

Here are some of the part numbers on some of the chips along with some basic info I was able to find on them.

              SAMSUNG KLMAG2GEAC-B002
              -16 GB eMMC flash memory

              PULSE H5007NL
-Transformers Audio & Signal 24-PIN SOIC

              AP6330
              -Bluetooth/FM/Wifi (Dual Band)

              MA8601
-USB 2.0 High Speed 4-port hub controller

              ES7154
-14-pin stereo digital to analog converter

              RTL8211F
              -Integrated 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet Transceiver

The four footpads on the bottom can be peeled off to reveal the four screws holding the case shut.

Here are pictures of the hardware.

I was able to install Kodi 16.1. I was not able to do this by simply updating the app, it would give me an error message every time. I was able to uninstall Kodi and then install Kodi 16.1 as a new installation. I think this is a better end result because it gets rid of all the preinstalled addon crap. The Android x86 .apk on the Kodi website did not work. The Android ARM .apk on the the Kodi website worked. I downloaded the .apk, moved it to a usb flash drive and installed it from the usb flash drive on the MXQ box.

Here is the Kodi Install APK that worked
                Android ARM .apk: http://mirrors.kodi.tv/releases/andr...rmeabi-v7a.apk

On paper the hardware in the MXQ Pro + 4K should be better but my Matricom G-Box Q2 is much smoother and more responsive. I guess it's just due to the extra effort and support Matricom puts into their firmware. I have had zero issues with the G-Box Q2 but the MXQ has had a few random restarts while watching videos and is a little slower even after removing and putting a clean Kodi install on it. It was less than half the price of the G-Box Q2 though so I guess you get what you pay for. It is still a decent android tv box solution and I will continue to use it as a secondary unit.

Hi, I have the MXQ pro+ 2gb / 16GB box, The stock rom that the box comes with is incredible sluggish and restarts a lot, I have tried searching for a custom rom, but all results point to the MXQ Pro, is the rom for MXQ Pro compatible with MXQ Pro +? Many Thanks!
