how to update Firmware on MXQ Pro+ Plus

Hi, I'm trying to update the firmware on MXQ Pro+ which was release on 2/6/2016 but having problem. They are no instruction how i can do this.

I have found few site which do say that recover button is located in AV port.

I have put toothpick to start in recovery mode but it still not working.

Can someone please write good guide how i can update the firmware on this device.

please include as much details as you can.

OK, I'll try.

First off, my box does NOT have a reset switch but this worked for me.

On a PC, go to to SD-robot's post here http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showt...#entry50045686 and download the firmware, USB burning tool and mac ether.ini files from his post.

Install the USB burning tool and drop the mac ether.ini file in the license folder (C:>program files(x86)>Amlogic>USB-burning-tool>license) and replace the original file.

Obtain a USB male to male cable (I made one from a couple of old cables - http://www.instructables.com/id/Male...o-A-USB-Cable/)

Open the USB burning tool and click on the second item on the top bar and change to English.

Plug the cable in to USB 4 on your box and plug into the PC, it should connect with the PC. Unplug from USB 4 but leave the cable plugged in to the PC. DO NOT USE the power adapter it will power itself from the USB cable.

Click on FILE in the USB burning tool and import the firmware image you downloaded, this will activate the START button.

Press start and plug the USB cable back in to USB 4

The firmware should start writing, it took about 4 minutes on my PC.

Connect it up to your TV and away you go.

The firmware is rooted and seems very stable, WiFi works but I haven't tested the remote that came with the box. Playstore works fine after it updated and Kodi installed and works fine.

bracky1 I try your step but when I connect my MXQ PRO+ with my PC its not showing in USB Burning Tool. I have order new MALE to MALE cable which hopefully be here tomorrow so I will give it another try.

Also do you not have to start your MXQ Pro+ in recovery mode

I don't have a reset button in my box so there was no way for me to hold it in for recovery mode while plugging the box in to the PC, I just thought I'd try it and see what happened.
Having further thought about it, I think I plugged the box in before running the USB burning tool as I remember the PC downloading drivers. Might be worth trying that.

Would you recommend me install the custom firmware. I just update the one which was supply to me by seller.

Shell I use custom firmware which is made by SD-Robot

I used the SD-robot firmware and have had no problems so far.
The general advice though is that if everything is working ok with your current firmware then why change.

What's the difference between the SD-robots and Russian ROM firms? Which one is preferable at the moment? (especially with fixing pink colors in mind). Thx.

OK, so the two different downloads (730/900 MB) which expand to a TWRP directory or an .img file, respectively, are the same but meant for different flashing methods?
