Just wanted to say thanks doggyofone, for the guide. Successfully updated my MXQ Pro+ so that it's usable now.

The box feels pretty fast, but the animations seem kind of sluggish. This is comparing it to a M8S Mini, which uses the same SoC. But, I am satisfied with it so far.

Quick question, is it a good idea to clear the cache after the update? I usually do this on my phones but it wasn't mentioned in the guide.

Guy I'm really new in this world of TV box.
I never did anything like Flash a new firmware in my android devices.
Could us do an OTA file like that : http://chinagadgetsreviews.com/downl...v-box-2-5.html ??
But the latest Firmware, the aml_upgrade_package0607 file.

          Thanks

            Sure, clear the cache.

              Thanks

I'm not sure what you are asking here. You can certainly update the firmware for the box. Make sure you follow the instructions for doing so. Maybe the update will make the box better, but it was so bad when my box came that I looked for alternatives. sd-robots firmware has worked well.

"But the latest Firmware, the aml_upgrade_package0607 file." If you are refering to installing openelec on the SD card you should review this forum "Openelec for Tronsmart Vega S95 - FreakTab.com " and if you want to proceed, I wrote these instructions - "Step by Step Instructions on How to Install Openelec on MXQ Pro+ Dual Boot Via SD Card - FreakTab.com ".

And it really helps to read through the forums and learn. There is great information on this site that will help you figure things out. You can also search Google to learn how to flash an Android box.

How do you enter recovery after the firmware is installed if the reset switch does not work in the av port? Do you have to use rashr again?

Get an app that will boot you into recovery from the play store. The answer is in the guide: The recovery button inside the AV port still does not work to boot into recovery so I installed Recovery Reboot to have a easy way to reboot into recovery mode. There are several others available. Play Store Recovery Reboot page:

When I click on this link, it tells me "We're sorry, the requested URL was not found on this server."
Then I looked for Recovery Reboot on Play Store. There were several apps with that name. Can you tell us which one it is?
And if the Play Store says "Your device is not compatible with this version", how do I install the software?

Also, I am confused about the two IMG files. Am I burning the ROM twice? What exactly is TWRP ?

Sorry, I'm new to all this. Thanks very much for the info and help!

TWRP is a recovery which allows you to install ROMs, clear the cache, reset the device etc. You need TWRP recovery to install the ROM because the reset button to access the box's original recovery doesn't work.

You need your device to be rooted to use these apps, so make sure your device is rooted as per Doggyofone's instructions. Once rooted, install TWRP, then install the ROM within the recovery.

Once you install TWRP as per Doggyofone's guide, your box will reboot into TWRP once installed, so you don't really need an app to reboot into recovery. You'll only need an app to reboot into recovery if for whatever reason you want to access the recovery after the ROM is installed. I asked because I wanted to clear the cache after I installed the ROM and I had already booted into the system.

But to answer your question, if you need an app to reboot into the recovery, just download the highest rated one that will do its purpose. Personally I went with 'Quick Reboot'.

                            Hi Doggyofone

Thanks for the clear directions. I had tried the USB Burning tool method a number of times, but could not get it to work. The SD card root also did not work when trying to root the box, but the USB Stick did eventually work. Im a newbie, so the instuctions were extremely helpful. Thanks to all that have shared and helped. Original firmware truly sucked!!

First of all, thanks to the detail guide so I can flash mxq pro+ successfully.

Could anyone give me any suggestion about below issue after flash Sd-Robots ROM?
After I flash ROM, there is no screen via HDMI to TV, it's really wired that TV shows "NO SUPPORT" (it worked fine before flash ROM)
BUT I connect to TV via RCA line, screen shows up !! ( screen resolution is really horrible)
So what's wrong to HDMI interface??

                              Thanks in advance.

                              BR, Rocky.

                              sharing a experience here:
after i install TWRP into mxq pro+, i can NOT select any directory via RESTORE button.
then i do backup button once, after that, i CAN select directory in RESTORE so i can flash this ROM.

Hi Rocky, just had a similar issue. Do you have a reset button in your AV port. What I did was unplug my unit. Then used a paperclip to press the reset button while plugging unit back to power. Then release the reset button. Unit started up again in HDMI.

                                Hope this helps
