    Bricked MK809 II

    Help...

I have a MK809 ii running original firmware, for some reason cannot start at all. Done the recovery stuff, but the PC cannot detect the dongle. Tried the short circuit 6-7 still wont detect.

Is there any way i can unbrick it, without using the short circuit method ?

I have the same hardware as the guy in this topic, but luckily i have the otg port.

FYI, before it was bricked, i installed youtube for gtv and xmbc.

i attached my usb port layout, hope somebody can help why i cannot get to recovery mode (ever).

    hi.
    just some thoughts..
which micro USB are you using while connecting to the PC during recovery?

as far as i know, in mk809II, there are 2 microUSB, 1 for the power supply and 1 for the OTG.

have you tried entering recovery (either by pushing the small switch or short-circuiting the pins) then
connect the microUSB (OTG port) to the PC? (leaving the other microUSB open)

there would be no indication in the TV except for black screen but your PC should be able to detect it
(as long as you are using the Flash Tool)

so your saying that the dongle should be connected to the hdmi port too?

i owned 2 dongle, the other one is an unrooted 808b, which i successfully flashed.
for this dongle i never touch the firmware because i never get to the recovery mode,
i've pressed the button before connecting to pc, but nothing happens, the pc wont detect.
tried with the 808, its very straightforward. i wonder if my dongle is a fake one, and the usb otg isn't really otg.

are you not connecting your dongle to a TV or monitor via HDMI?

first of all, if you really need to understand what's going in with your dongle, I guess it is better
if you connect it to TV or monitor via HDMI.
from the display, you may check if the dongle is booting up correctly, or getting only the 2 penguins, or only black screen.

have you tried first the normal flash procedure?
connect a microUSB cable to the OTG port and connect it to PC. (connect the hdmi port to TV)
after the device boots up, go to settings->USB connection and check Connect to PC.
after checking the Connect to PC, and the drivers are installed properly, the FlashTool should detect it.

i've tried everything, (push the side button, jumped 6-7 pin) bus still black screen only. the LED is on and it heats up, meaning the dongle is still up.

what do you mean with normal procedure? i cannot see the bootup at all. it is as good as dead. btw, i never get through any procedure to get the dongle detected by the computer, even when its still alive. did i get the fake one?

oh yeah, i remember the last this thing is up, i pressed the shutdown button. could it triggers the problem? maybe the dongle stays asleep.

the seller agreed to RMA the device, but considering the shipping cost as much as buying a new one. im still hoping i could fix it miself.
