Latest build (Kodi 16.1 RC3) for M8S Plus can be found on http://amlinux.ru/image/6.95.1/
I'm using it right now and it's quite stable, even for beta release.

Does this release still have the issue of turning off and not being able to be turned back on?

As I can see the remote is working fine on oryginal acemax device.
