Mini MXIII DRM issue on 107L1

    Hi everyone,

I have an app from our satellite provider that allows watching of live TV using our subscription login details.
When I launch the app it says DRM initialization failed. I downloaded a DRM info app to check what DRM is installed on the box, and it has Google Widevine. The one issue I see is that it says under Widevine that HDCP is unprotected, which might be the issue? Is there any way to get HDCP to be protected? All the other devices that I check DRM info on have the same DRM, just HDCP is not unprotected. The live TV app works on these devices.

    Thanks

Lol. Thought so. I am also in SA. They are actively trying to block devices. I updated my app and it stopped working. Rolled back to old version it works perfectly. Some people were also getting root messages saying stream won't play on rooted boxes. I am using Razer Forge TV box. I ordered Mini Mx III but never tested. I know dstv now works on beelink X2 which costs $26 to $34 most days. Newer s905x chip will support drm

Eish. I have an X2, but it got the dreaded red light issue and died, been trying to revive it, but no luck.
I ordered the mini mxiii thinking that it will be new and fast and whatnot, but now I'm not enjoying all the bugs and this DRM issue.
So is the DRM issue hardware not software? I figured it's software...?

Try to root your device then get a logcat
            https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...n.logcat&hl=en
Start catlog then run DSTV Now app until it gives you problems, exit or force close it, now stop logging in catlog and upload the logcat file or send it by PM.
It will help to determine what is causing the problem, if it a compatibility problem in the app or a codec or firmware problem on the device itself perhaps.
If it's too technical to see what's going on, the logcat files can be send to different manufacturers that can perhaps help.

If someone has a device with KitKat firmware on, they can also send a logcat where the app is working then the 2 logs can be compared and there will be a better chance to get it fixed even if it is a different device.

Thanks for the advice, that sounds like a good plan. The device is rooted currently, so I shall give it a go this weekend and then forward the results.

              Thanks

Unfortunately not... I took the logs, sent them out to Beelink, but no response. I managed to fix the X2 in the mean time though. Still miffed about all the bugs in the MXIII firmware.

                    Also no solution found yet.
I forwarded all the logs to Beelink again.

Can someone test the DSTV Now app on a KitKat firmware tv box and provide the logs?
Then also logs from a KitKat & Lollipop cellphone or tablet where it works will help.
Then the differences can be compared and maybe someone will be able to see what is accessed when the app works and try to implement a fix for Lollipop?
I also don't think Beelink will know how to fix it, it might be too complicated.
I have a suspicion the problem is with the app itself and they don't want to provide fixes for tv boxes, only want users to use the app on a select few devices.

Doubt the problem is with lollipop as it works great on my Razer Forge with 5.0.2. Think the problem is lack of drm support in S905 which can't be fixed. Hopefully this is fixed in S905X..

It also doesn't work with other tv boxes that have DRM rights that are required for Netflix and US/UK/Australian streaming apps while those apps work with no problems.
So the S905X will have the exact same problem.
But maybe the Marshmallow OS will interact differently with the app and that will make it work, don't know.
