    OPENELEC 7.0 on BeeLink X2

    Hello all,

I successfully installed OPENELEC 7.0 on my Beelink X2,

I noticed that the hardware of OrangPi and Beelink X2 is pretty much the same.

In ordered to do so you will need:

    - Micro SD at least 8GB (16GB recommended)
    - Heat Sink is Recommended

Download Orange Pi2 OPENELEC firmware from Here:

    Download Win32Diskimager from Here:

    Instructions:

    Format the Micro SD FAT32

Extract the img file from the opi2 zip

burn the opi2 img file on the Micro SD with the Win32Diskimager

insert the opi2 openelec Micro SD into the Beelink X2 and restart.

You will se a purple light and the openelec logo will appear, the Beelink X2 will boot once more and now after the openelec logo you will enter the Kodi 16.1 interface.

Now, it's recommended to install Heat Sink because of the high temp of the cpu.

i installed a heat sink and drill 38mm hole on the top of the box above the heat sink, placed a 40mm 12v fan and connect it to the usb power source.
(12v fan is good and quite with 5v input)

i drilled some more holes on the sides in order that the air flow will be good enough .

the top cover is keeping the heat sink tight on the cpu and no screws is needed, I used some hot glue the mount the fan on the box.

I added a small wifi antenna by drilling a hole above the Beelink X2 original wifi antenna it connected perfectly

That's it! the OPENELEC 7.0 is running smoothly on my modded Beelink X2 ENJOY!

If you remove the SD does the X2 boot back to the original firmware or once you do this you are stuck with Openelec?
    Thanks in advance.

          Thanks zivco.
My Beelink X2 hangs up at booting after I installed v203k4(original came with v208k4). I have used PhoenixSuit to reflash different versions of firmware that I have(the latest version that I have is v204k4), it said it finished successful, but it fails in booting.
Using your method here, the Beelink X2 was able to run Kodi 16.1.
I have also found out that I can create a bootable microSD using PhoenixCard with the image files that I have, and run Beelink X2 from microSD. Everything seems to be working, including the remote. With your method, the existing remote does not work. I have to use external mouse/keyboard or external USB remote.
At least for now the Beelink X2 is usable.
Thanks again for your write up.
