    CX-919, android TV, general questions

    Hi everybody!
I received my new CX-919 yesterday and played around with it.
I am very new to mini PCs and to Android so please forget my ignorance.
I like the little thing very much but have a few questions that I could not find answers in Google.
(I know he/she/it is my best friend)
I would like to ask your help to direct me to the information sources where I can find solution to them. Or maybe you can answer here directly please!
    So
the first is how can I hide the virtual/soft keyboard in such a way that I am still able to type in for example Google main search field. (I found a lot of keyboard hiding apps, ie. nullKeyboard etc. but after hiding the keyboard with them I am not able to type in certain filds) ?

the second is how can I share the USB drive connected to the minPC with windows machines
Do I need to install a Samba server or what is the easiest solution ?

I have done a lot of searching but for these two things I could not find real solution.
If these questions have already been answered please direct me to the answers.
    Thank you for your help!

I just use ES File explorer, you find file and open it and it gives you a selection of apps to open file. Samba Servers work too though.

Before trying any of these methods, I am assuming you have a backup of your current settings. I cannot be held responsible for any unfavorable outcome(s).

If NULL Keyboard is not working for you, there are 2 other possible solutions that I can think of:

      1. Go to Settings > Apps > ALL > Android Keyboard > Force Stop and Disable
      2. Download Titanium Backup from the Play Store. Then go to Backup/Restore (top middle) > find Android Keyboard > Freeze!

Please report back here if any of the above helped resolve your problem.

If Titanium Backup helped, please consider supporting the developer and purchasing this very useful piece of software here.

        Thank You drex,

After I flashed finless 4.2.2 rom "null keyboard" working well.
And I found "SMB samba server" is working pretty well as well.
so above problems seems to be solved.

        thanks again

          Other questions:

          I have bought a 2G/8G device.
I flashed finless 4.2.2 rom with the 4Gb parameter file.

Now in settings->sotrage I can see the following

Internal Storage Total space : 3.94 GB
Nand Flash Total space: 2.65 GB

Could please somebody explain the numbers, what they mean?
and how can I use the remaining space I have (that should be around 4 GB)

          Thanks

Maybe I can explain it to myself, but please correct me when I am wrong.

2GB/8Gb means I have 2 GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage (like a HDD)

With finless 4GB parameter file I got :
Internal Storage 3.94 GB (just like a an internal boot HDD)
and Nanad flash 2.65 GB (just like a second HDD, in ES file explorer this is the SD card, i suppose)
            This 2.65 seems to be a little small.....? 3.94+2.65 = 6.59
            about 1.41 GB missing,
how big is the system it self ?
            Could you help me here...

            Thanks

Although I agree that does seem low, 8GB is actually 8,000,000 bytes.

[bytes] / [bytes in a kilobyte] / [kilobytes in a megabyte] = [gigabytes]
              8000000/1024/1024 = 7.62939453125GB

              You're missing 1GB.

I am still waiting for my stick, so I am unfamiliar with the flashing process. Having owned 3 different android phones all with custom roms, is there a method to format the system partition like in clockworkmod? Maybe there is space being used by previous rom that your current rom isn't recognizing?

                Two questions:
                1. Does the 2A charger really output 2A ? Mine outputs 500mA only. Tried other cables too.
I verified via my galaxy nexus phone which reports the charge rate as "USB" instead of "AC" (Shows AC for other chargers >=1A )
                2. Is the power micro-usb power port flimsy for other people too? The device resets with the slightest movement (connecting a usb device, connecting hdmi etc) since the power port connection is loose. Tried with many cables including some brand new blackberry ones.

I can only comment on point 1 since I don't have mine yet.
You cannot use the phone to check the power adapter. The AC / USB charging is identified by shortening the 2 middle pins on the USB on most phones (did not mention iPhone) and not Voltage or max current (Amp) that the adapter can provide. This is a sort of standard that they created to protect the usb ports on a laptop for which most of them can only provide 500mA (=0.5A)
So if that adapter doesn't shorten the 2 middle pins the phone is always going to show you USB charging no matter what current it can provide.

Thansk, thats useful info. Will need to test it with a multimeter.

                      2.
My ports are very firm, no problem with flimsiness, I take it with me to my work and back home every day since I received it (about a week) so I plug and unplug everything twice a day no problem so far.
