Need a root tester

I want to try to make an update.zip to root a box. That is not rooted. Need to know box and have a factory img.

X96 S905X Android 6, do not have factory img. If I can make one I would. What is first step to acquiring a factory.img?

Can boot.img be pulled with dd without root?

I was fortunate enough to find an OTA update kicking around here in this forum. I installed it and its already rooted so MY PROBLEM IS SOLVED! Very happy now!
