Also one last question, are custom firmwares available for any RK3368 boxes currently? Thanks for your time.

About to make a purchase on a new Ugoos UT4 box, have some questions
Hi folks. Already own a Minix X8-H Plus and love it. Ready to make a second purchase and the Ugoos UT4 caught my eye. Just have a few questions for folks who own a product by Ugoos as well. How is the support for firmware updates/patches? Do they respond well? Is their a dedicated forum that addresses their products? I just havent seen a whole lot by them out there. I am looking at one of these new gen boxes on the Rk3368 SOC's because they seem to fit my needs. Thanks. And if Ugoos isnt the way to go on a RK3368, which manufacturer is?

Ugoos provide some of the best firmwares for tv boxes.
All the latest firmwares are posted on their website and also in freaktab.
Still firmware updates after 2 years of tv box release while other companies don't bother or stop after 3 months.
They also use fans and good quality heatsinks.
On their website are also resellers if they are perhaps in your country, otherwise Geekbuying, Gearbest are good places to buy.
If you can, you can get a UT3S, they are a faster processor compared to RK3368 but a little more.
All my firmwares on freaktab also work on Ugoos devices but their firmwares support ota updates which is easier for some people to use.

The UT4 is very good.
The UT3S has a 1.8Ghz quad-core while UUT4 has a 1.5ghz octa-core CPU.
The GPU graphics chip in the UT3S is about 30% faster and better for gaming and overall gets a 50000-55000 Antutu score while UT4 get about 40000-45000 Antutu benchmark score.
The UT3S supports 10-bit HEVC video playback while UT4 only supports 8-bit HEVC video playback.
That's about the only difference, it depends if you plan to play 10-bit HEVC videos then choosing between the 2 tv boxes should be kept in mind.
You get rooting setting in the menus and can also use your smartphone as a remote control which works really well for both tv boxes.

ok another question on the UT3S. I see their is a version 2 which i would assume is a newer model. How can you tell if it is the newer model or not if the site only lists it as a UT3S? You know how chinese sites have questionable descriptions/translations at times. Is this one a V2? --> http://www.geekbuying.com/item/UGOOS...643.html#close

UT3 - 3 USB ports, originally released with HDMI-IN port for viewing
UT3S - 3 USB + 1 extra USB port and removed HDMI-IN port
UT3+ - 3 USB ports and HDMI-IN port with PIP and recording ability
The one you linked is out of stock at the moment, but you might get it at Gearbest,Banggood or official rseller on ugoos.net website.
I'm not sure what you mean with v2, there are only 1 version of each product, so it might be a translation error on Geekbuying.
You can also contact Ugoos on their website with the chat window or email to [email protected] to get further information, they might be able to help you better directly.
