Pipo Max M8 Pro Bluetooth issues

    Hi guys,

I seem to be having an issue with Bluetooth devices on my Pipo Max M8 Pro (3G) tablet. I can't connect my Bluetooth headphones, nor a Bluetooth ODBII diagnostic Bluetooth dongle. These devices both connect fine to my phone (HTC One X). I am currently running RileyRom 1.5 however, I still had these issues with the stock 4.2.2 ROM. When I scan for these devices it will not find them, but it will find my phone if I set it on visible. I would guess that this may be related to a driver issue rather than a hardware issue is it will find some devices via Bluetooth. Any ideas? Thanks!

I don't have any of the equipment you mentioned - but I've not had any problems pairing with my MT6577 phone - it did however require a bit of timing for the pairing. Couldn't click "Pair" on the popup with passcode, about at the same time. Had to give good 5 secs between each unit for the pairing to complete.

I also had no problem pairing with my A705 bluetooth v2.1 handsfree earplug - although it doesn't really serve much use for this tablet.

I guess this might not apply to more complex BT units without interface. I'll see if I can pair it with my car later, it doesn't really have the same kind of interface.

Sorry, I only just read this reply. Thanks for checking. There's definitely some issue with the Bluetooth on mine which is disappointing. Not sure what I can do about it now.

Have you tried RileyROM 1.6 ? Its supposedly the first ROM off SDK 2.0 (not sure though, but it would seem likely). It is supposed to, among other things, enable the Bluetooth 4.0 on the RK3188, so some work must have been done with the BT firmware. Could have straightened out your issue ... If you're already on RileyROM, you can boot into CWM and do a backup. Copy it to your external SD and take it out during flashing etc. If it doesn't work out for you, you can always just restore the backup afterwards and be right back where you left (remember to clear cache partition and Dalvik Cache (under advanced) in CWM before rebooting after backup restore).

Yes, that new 1.6 version of RileyROM is from SDK 2.0. They advertised bluetooth support.

This is the wifi only version. I did not receive a link for a 3G version...so I haven't done one for 3G as of yet.

Opposite goes for the M9, which someone has supplied a link to the 3G version...but no wifi only version.

                Hi,
I can connect my M8 pro to my phone with Bluetooth with no problem.
I'm trying to make a tethering connection with no success : no internet connection (It's working with my laptop)
Tethering with wifi is OK on my M8 pro with my 3G phone
Do guys have you got success with that ?
I have tried with the app easy tether or pdanet with no succes too. it fails on 'Cannot configure VPN'.
                Thanks for any help

What rom are you on? Theres a brand spanking fresh ROM out for the 3g version of the m8pro, spawn of the SDK2.0 - should have the announced bluetooth updates (4.0 enabled etc). Right now rrileypm hasn't had time to do his mod of it yet, but the stock rom is available. Look for the posted link towards the end of the RileyROM 1.5 thread.

Hi, I've the last rom (sdk 2.0 no 3G), but I've made a special one for me, a compromise from version 117 found on baidu and Metarom.
In fact the differences between mine and Riley's are some chinese app (Pipo launcher), icons on settings and framework and build.prop taken from MetaRom.

I just want to know if someone could achieve bluetooth tethering on Pipo M8 pro
i e : get internet connection from a 3G phone connected to the Pipo with bluetooth.

I just tried this and had no luck between my Pipo M8pro (non-3g) and my Jiayu G3 (MTK6577) phone. Neither sharing 3G connection or wifi connection, by bluetooth thetering. To be honest - I've never done it before, so I'm not really sure if its supposed to "just work"...?

On the tablet the option is there for "Use for internet connection" (in bt settings for the paired unit/phone) or similar. I activate bluetooth thetering on the phone, and check the above mentioned box on the tablet. Request comes through, and the bluetooth connection is established. But alas - neither on (phone) wifi only, 3g, or both active - can I get an actual internet connection on the tablet... it just says in the browsers that "Wifi and data traffic is disabled".

The "Thetering or hotspot active- press to setup" notification comes up - but as far as I can tell, the only related "setting" on the phone is toggling bt thetering on/off. Just to be sure I tried activating the Wifi hotspot, but it didn't seem to affect the bt thetering in any way.

Wifi hotspot by phone on 3G works fine - any particular reason you can't use that? Or is it more to the fact that the bluetooth thetering seems defective and should be fixed?

I don't really know what to look for further, so hope someone can chime in on this.

PS. I haven't been able to get wifi direct to work properly either. Then once again -a feature I haven't really used before, so not really sure if there are some "tricks" to that, too.

                        Thanks for your test.

                        Same thing for me alas.

In some case, I get wifi only with my phone (EAP SIM).
So I can't use Wifi hotspot together so I was hoping bluetooth tethering was OK.

I will ask pipo, maybe they can make somethings.

I'm not quite sure what you mean when you say "In some case, I get wifi only with my phone". Would you care to elaborate?

I'm currently on a slightly debugged version of the most recent M8pro SDK2.0 rom. I would have thought that, if they fixed this - it would be in this version....

What kind of phone do you have to do this with?

In fact, with my smartphone (WIKO Cink Slim), I have a 2G subscription that offers me free wifi. (operator FREE in France)
It works with EAP SIM identification, so it can only work with my phone (need a sim card to identify, free wifi secure)
I connect to the free wifi on the ADSL box of the others clients.

So When I am in a town I can have free wifi with my phone so I hope having it also on my tablet too with bluetooth tethering, because this free wifi can't be directly get by the tablet.

                            Bye, hope I'm clear

Yeah, i understand - the phone can't act as a hotspot AND client at the same time, thus the blietooth theter.
