Can you connect with ADB?? Ott M8s 812 bcm4335 version
I have the model you cannot get into Recovery mode. My question is whether you can connect with ADB tools? I have the driver installed, I can start the USB Burning tool and it shows successful connection but when I open ADP panel and type "adp devices" is says it's starting the Daemon successfully but no devices are detected. Am I doing something wrong? I would like to burn a recovery image before trying any new roms and this seemed the best chance of that. Any insights?Tags: None

So I found amlogic boot card maker but the instructions I found seems to flash a new rom. I want to create a bootable sd card to boot to twrp to create a backup first. I have a twrp.img file for my box. How do I only boot into recovery from the sd card? (Remember I can't start recovery on the box)?
Sorry new to this.

Why can you not get into recovery mode?? Is it because your box doesn't have a recovery installed?? It should by default. Or is it because your box doesn't have a Reset button inside the AV hole??
Have you tried using Terminal Emulator app and typing "reboot recovery" to see??
As far as SD Card Maker instructions go, follow the first part where you create the boot partition on the sd card and then format the card FAT32 (This video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4MuWck6kcis shows how. Only the first 2:39 are relevant to making a "Bootable SD card". As for the rest, once the sd is made bootable, copy the twrp image to it. Now you have a bootable sd card with twrp.**SkystreamX4 (S802)....M8S (S812)....Mini M8S (S905)....Nexbox A95x (S905x)

To burn twrp recovery download flashity from play store https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...flashify&hl=en to your android box.Open flashity aplication and chose flash zip file and select your twrp recovery img.The program will flash twrp recovery.
Install quick boot on your android box from playstore https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...uickboot&hl=en and after installing try to open quick boot and select reboot to recovery .See if the android box will reboot to twrp recovery
Your box must be rootedLast edited by tani666; 11 September 2016, 09:29.

You need to burn a uboot file to the sd before copying over TWRP as that helps the device boot from the sd. I have attached a link to a package that should work. It's a working u-boot.bin file and the burn card software. Once you have burnt the card, simply copy over the TWRP.img file, rename to recovery.img and you should then be able to turn on your box with a toothpick in the reset hole and sd card already in the slot to boot into recovery. Hold the toothpick there until you see the TeamWin splash screen and you should be booting into recovery then.

Clearly either my m8s v8.8 either is unable to boot into recovery from the ad card or I am doing something wrong. I used your boot card maker, launched it as admin insects erred my 8gb sd card selected the uboot you uploaded, copied recovery.img file to sad card, booted with toothpick in AV and gets stuck on title screen. How long would it take to boot? Am I doing something wrong? The sd card maker finishes successfully and formatted as fat file system. Really confused on why not working.
