Backlit keyboard that came with the box I got has a weird issue. Any ideas? ***RESOLVED***

the box I bought came with a backlit keyboard that is a knockoff of a Rii8 backlit keyboard. It works fine, light works fine etc etc. With one exception: lets say you are typing in a username on a site. Once you have entered the name you would press enter to move to the password line. Well when you hit the "enter" key, instead of the action happening it places a "q". So you never get the "enter" action but always a "q" Its a huge hassle. And im wondering if its a known issue or is there anything that can be done to fix this?

Try this and see if it helps: "To fix, change /system/usr/keylayout/Generic.kl 28 from DPAD_CENTER to ENTER". Solution discovered by prahjister.

thank you for your response i most certainly appreciate the help. I am on marshmallow 6.0.1 so getting to the path you show above may be a bit different. But I am in the keyboard & layout area and i dont have an option for DPAD_center to Enter or im missing it. Here are some screens thanks again

This path: /system/usr/keylayout/Generic.kl is at the "root" of the Android File system. Use a File Explorer like FX File Explorer or ES File Explorer and go to the "root" of your device or find the "system" folder. Within that folder will be the "usr" folder, and then the "keylayout" folder. Inside this folder should be a file named "Generic.kl" Open that file with a file editor (both of the above file explorers have built-in file editors). Scroll down through the file until you find "28 DPAD_CENTER" and change it to "28 DPAD_ENTER" then save the file. Reboot box and try keyboard again to see if it fixes the issue.

ok set to Enter from center, rebooted. got to front end and now i cant use arrow keys around the OK button to navigate. All keys dead, cant type. Luckily touchpad working still, went back in and set DPAD_ENTER back to DPAD_CENTER just like it was all is ok again with exception of original problem of "q" showing as enter function. So right back where i started.

If you use the DPAD center as your "Enter" after typing something does it also give you a "q" or does it function as "Enter"??

yes it gives me a "q" as well after typing something.

OK. I had this same problem but, the DPAD center to enter fixed my issue. Maybe some other values also need to be changed?? If you want, I can pull my Generic.kl file and give it to you for you to try or compare against yours??

company i bought the box and keyboard from told me to try Fn + F1(which resets RF for the keyboard). I knew it wouldnt fix what is wrong but i tried it anyways. I was right, it just disconnected the keyboard and didnt fix a thing. Im trying to convinve them to update firmware on the box but its like talking to a brick wall

well that fixed it(as ladyluck would have it LOL)!! it works as its supposed to now, and this is one huge problem fixed. now if they can update firmware to accept bluetooth dongle and gamepads ill be a happy camper. Thank you so much for your time and efforts!
