    Good morning to all

just finished reading Randy's "First Time User Guide"

Very well done. This really answers all the questions around the flashing process.

    Thank you very much.

Guess you can say "both". Randy gave me the the old readme with some updated text and the logo. I updated it further, reworked parts of it, added illustrations, and composed the document you have now. Randy was without his tablet, and has alot on his plate. I had fresh thorough knowledge of driver issues, workings and workarounds, procedures and the time to spare.

The parameter files determine how much space you devote to installing apps.

Your tablet will work with either of these choices.

The 2,4,6,8 GB adjust the size of the memory where you install apps. Read the excellent user guide on flashing ROM`s on this board, to get all information.
                    Cheers

Note: The space you choose to dedicate to system and app storage, is a part of your internal free storage. Say yout tablet comes with 16gb storage. If you choose to increase the size of this system/app space with 2gb, thats 2gb less internal user space. To change this space arrangement later, you'll need to flash rom again. If you plan to restore your apps from backup afterwards, you need to backup with titanium backup or similar, NOT CWM recovery.

I am happy with your Rom, but I do have a "problem" I think. When in settings, About Tablet, when I try to go to "Rockchip System Updates", settings stops. Is this intended, is this only happening with me, or is there something else which could cause this to happen? Another question I have is, I have installed your 1.2 Rom on I think another dated M6, I think I had Kernel version dated something like 06 jun. Can this cause problems? I also understood there is a new rom out from Pipo dated 2 Juli. Is that wrong info I have?

You cannot use "System updates" on RileyROMs, as far as I know. If you want to update, you'll have to download it to your computer and flash by cable.

Kernel date shouldn't really matter much, as long as its not a different hardware revision. The ROM overwrites the kernel anyway.

If you're referring to the Pipo official update, date 2. July on the pipo site - notice the file name for it says 25 June. Its the same as the basis for this (M6 RileyROM 1.2) ROM.

I remove the Rockchip Update Tool apk as part of the debloat process. Since that app isn't there, settings will stop when you press that selection. There is no reason to have it, because Rockchip, to my knowledge, has never pushed out an update directly to devices...and even if they did, the updates might not be compatible with the other ROM changes. Even among the manufacturers, each device is like a snowflake...no two Android versions that are identical. I wish they would just remove that feature.

The only way to flash a RileyROM is with a PC using the tool provided in the kit.

Thanks for the answers provided. I already got that impression, as everything is working okay. And I know system updates are gone when you flash a custom rom, but as system updates does "work", at least it doesnt make settings stop, and rockwell system updates does make settings stop, i just wondered about this behaviour.

Is it difficult to remove it from the settings menus?
