How do you know you're getting a genuine unit?

I was thinking of buying a Tronsmart MK908 unit. I was over at AliExpress and found that the pictured units did not have a picture that said "Tronsmart" but instead a picture of an android robot. I was talking to Alex Wong and he said that even though they did not show Tronsmart on the unit, they come from the same factory that the Tronsmart are built.

How do you know for sure that you are getting a genuine unit?

Thank you in advance for any of your input.

      Thanks for the reply.

You've confirmed what Alex Wong said.

Have you been able to successfully flas it with original Tronsmart flash?

      Thanks again for your response.

I did not try to flash original firmware, as i flashed finless rom 1.5 within a couple of hours of take it out of the box.

          Ok ... fair enough.

I think I needed confirmation of what the vendor on AliExpress was saying. I appreciate you giving me that.

I ordered one from Aliexpress, got it couple of days ago: white box, no Transmart logo, but everything else looks the same. Successfully flashed Finless 1.5. "No name" but same thing I guess. It may depend on what part of the world they are shipping.

              That is interesting.

May I ask who your vendor was?

If you look at Amazon.com and GeekBuying.com, they are the Tronsmart authorized online distributors, their units are pictured with the Tronsmart label on them. Another vendor from AliExpress said that they made the units and used the Tronsmart software to flash them.

If they are clones and the units flash with either the Tronsmart or the Tronsmart compatible Finless ROM flash, then I guess they would be hardware identical to the genuine Tronsmart?

O.k. The vendor appears to be "Rick chan" (at least that is what appears when I sign in and check my order). Interesting enough, when I browse the stick details (link appears together with my order at aliexpress) it does contain th e"transmart" label, and even the packaging is the same. When delivered, however, it is just a plain white box. The dongle itself looks exactly the same as Transmart, all other labels are also the same (quad core, 2GB....), except for the Transmart one, which is missing. BTW this is my 3rd stick ordered the same way, via aliexpress, (ug802 and mk808 before mk908), never had a single issue flashing Finless roms, running Picuntu etc, and everything is (still) working just like a charm. Cheers, G

So, it would seem that they are capable clones.

Than you for reporting your experience with them.
