What Launcher Do You Use and Do You Get Hangs?

It has been suggested that hangs at launcher start could be due to problems in the launcher program. Pretty much as soon as I got my Telos, I got rid of the included Media Box launcher and installed Nova - which I use on a variety of other devices without problems. I could not seem to find or use the standard Android launcher.

It seems from what I read here that hangs at launcher start are not unusual. So I am wondering which launchers are being used and if you have had hangs at launcher start. So if you can take the time to post that info to this thread it may prove enlightening.

    Thanks

Hi. I would venture you are bundling two issues into one question.

    1. I like Action Launcher and may try Lightning Launcher (Hope it is not resource hungry!)

    2. Tronsmart needs to fix the firmware if possible, however, these boxes do not have battery CMOS(?) backup and have to seek date-time etc. from the router.
    a. Don't shut-down or reboot unless the memory leaks are too much for android. What's a couple of watts going to cost anyhow.
    b. Disable the "Automatic Date and Time" switch in system setting. When you shut-down/ reboot, return to settings and enable just long enought to aquire proper date-time info.
    c. On the Telos boxes I've set up...each seems a little finiky and heat sensitive. New firmware have shown me more hangs compared to the original (Dec15) stock firmware?
    d. Do you find the box hangs more when wifi is is enabled compared to wired? When wired, the box has less problems negoiating an I.P. further to aquiring date-time ..etc.
    e....naw just kidding...maybe.

Hope any of this prattle helps.

Hi and thanks. I am not sure how I a bundling 2 into one. But thanks for the info. It is true that the firmware is almost hopeless - even at this late point in time. I always backup my devices fully using TWRP every night. That requires a reboot at least once a day. So planned daily reboots are pretty necessary for me. Of course, crashes and reboots occur more frequently than when I trigger them. In my reading and limited experience actually using the thing, they can happen unpredictably. I am still trying to capture logs from those situations. It is true that these boxes lack a battery and that time only is updated using NNTP. Wish I had known this before. But who thought to even ask? My old Minix Neo X5 has one. I don't find my unit to be getting overly hot - at least so far. Hope it stays that way. I have enabled wifi only once for grins. I will be relying upon the ethernet connection since this lives right next to my router.

        Cheers
