S912 performance slower than exected due to using Android 32-bit (ARMv7) binaries?

While reading reviews of the S912 I kept noticing people mentioning that it seemed much slower than it should be given its specs. While I was digging around in images tonight I noticed the Android port, binaries, libraries, graphics drivers, etc all appear to be ARMv7 instead of ARMv8 arm64. According to the ARM website the ARMv7 drivers for android are soft-float which might be the reason that the S912 performance is lower than was expected. The kernel itself does appear to be 64-bit and the kernel modules themselves are mostly 64-bit, one is not which seems odd, I thought they had to match the kernel arch...
