Which Android TV box is recommended?

Hi,

I would like to buy S905X Android TV box with Android 6.
My main usecase is Kodi reading videos from external HDD connected to the TV box.
The TV box will be connected directly to the TV (I don't care about 5.1 audio etc., as long as I hear it on my TV)

I also prefer non-rooted firmware since some video apps detect root and refuse to play content.

Any suggestions?

First thing first, Android TV and TV box based on Android is two different thing. Android TV is the OS designed by Google, however, most  AOSP TV box  based on Android system is made in China. If you would like to buy a Android TV box, Mi box is the best one under $70. If you would like to buy a AOSP TV box, I would suggest T95N, NEXBOX, MINIX, MEMOBOX....
