is the T428 a lost cause?

i ordered a T428 thought it would be a great stick..... but from what i read every day,the problems are getting more and more ......and i didn't even received my stick yet.... so, is it a lost cause? i can tolerate some jitter in HD ....but i even read about jerky BT-keyboard behavior if wifi is enabled..... to all experts, will there be a fix for this any time soon,or should i get me a "tested" dual core stick? my use is mainly facebook games, web browsing ,youtube, and some movies from a external drive. connected to wifi (or lan) a bluetooth keyboard and a wireless mouse. (yes, i know about getting a efficient power supply.)

I had a few hickups I recommend the finless bob 1.4a ROM so far it is superior to 1.5a ... some of the PLEX movies wouldn't play...that isn't acceptable to me...however I think it is a superior unit versus say MK808.

Its really sad but true..i bought t428 with rc16 bt keyboard for $120 and now i am thinking it was waste of my money..i previously own imito mx2 and it has its issues but it was usable you know..i love using it because its nice to sit on my cauch for internet surfing or watching series-movies instead of sitting in front of my laptop on a chair for hours..but with this i never use it because mouse doesnt work wifi drops time to time videos are choppy its useless..i hope that these problems are just the software issues so that some of us can figure it out eventually but i really doubt it..

No you don't have waste your Money.
Our Member Strauzo has made a Kernel that's fix the problem.
Take a look in the Global Anaucments.

            Getting better

I have had this T428 for over a month now, and it is getting better. When I first received it, it was horrible. No ethernet support, WiFi was flaky and crashed frequently. I have been following this post from the beginning and have been constantly updating the roms as they are posted by the devs. I have a lot of respect for all of those gentlemen. I am now using the stock rom from June 17 modified by arctablet. I tried the rom from Strauzo yesterday, but it did not work very well for me. So far, the WiFi and ethernet are working flawlessly and the unit never crashes. I have been using Netflix to watch "Lost" for hours and it is great. I do have a boxee box with netflix and ps3 with netflix, but I am trying to use my T428 exclusively. XMBC is also working fantastic for me. I watch all my movies from my Synology NAS using XBMC, even though Synology has some great apps for doing the same thing. Youtube, and all the other web based apps like Revision3 work great.

I am hoping they can get my Logitech C310 webcam with mic to work, so I can use skype. I really miss the ability of this device to pass through Dolby surround audio via hdmi. I have my T428 going through my A/V reciever and would love to have 5.1 sound.

i started this thread, so just an update..... i received my T428 a couple of days ago....first impression ..not so good... BT-keyborad no go..... mouse kinda worked..... to wrap it up ,i experienced everything bad i had read so far... that was with the stock rom. i upgraded to finless rom 1.5 and WOW, speed is like in turbo mode... everything else works as it should. i didn't tried video yet but from what i read we are almost there. thank you finless bob and all others that worked on previous and future roms!!!

                blog.geekbuying

I checked on blog.geekbuying and some exchange in it show you how bad is this seller. One participant who buy from then keep asking when a working firmware will be release. Then he simply ask "I have to throw or refund". And received that answer "Throw... now move along".
So I think geekbuying never mind about selling those devices, even if it was not working and I am sure Eric and companies are simply crook!

The comment "Throw... now move along" was by the public, not Geekbuying... I find them to be very fair in my experience with them.

                  hope this helps

I'll say this for Geekbuying at least: They have been nothing short of stellar as far as a seller standpoint. I've never seen any retailer be as active on a 3rd party forum as they are. Geekbuying isn't the problem, Tronsmart needs to get their [poop] together.

I bought a Samsung Blu-Ray player for only 50 bucks from Walmart. FIFTY bucks!!! It plays Blu-Ray & DVD AND it's got Netflix and Hulu and a bunch of other video apps and they all work great. The Netflix app is WAY better. No video problems. The whole Netflix experience is way better. It buffers and straightens out the video quality before it even starts playing the content. The stop/pause/rewind/forward controls all work. Everything works! I think that the cpu is very much weaker and slower than RK-3066 or RK-3188 but it doesn't matter. Now trying to figure why I wasted a hundred bucks TWICE on Quad-core Android HDMI sticks that are buggy with anything that you try to run on them. I might fire up one of my HDMI sticks to play some games one day, but right now they're just collecting dust behind my TV.

If you're retired and can spend most of your time playing "Fiddle me this and riddle me that" on these half-baked devices, well I guess you've got yourself a hobby, but I think I go back to buying real products by real manufacturers that actually work.

Exactly I agree ,In my real world I cannot spend all night and day on these devices as some of them do.
And when people say they cannot see the studder Im wondering what they are on or who kicked them in the head. Even my wife who is not even remotely into any of this can see it within seconds. I almost think at moments if its something to do with a pal/ntsc signal mixup seems to be steady. Anyways-
I agree... I bought the stick for the size and was gonna make every tv a smart one adding controller software for remoting the whole house and that fell so short. lol- guess we live and learn.

I think it's a question of balance : you don't buy a chinese minipc hoping it will work out of the box like a Samsung device. If you bought this, a part of you likes trying, exploring, flashing roms, etc. It's part of the fun of it.
However, as customers, we are indeed to expect the basic things to work correctly. And in this case, it is not for now. Even with tweaks.

So, what do you guys think if we make a bad publicity about tronsmart and geekbuying ? A web page about the scam perhaps ?

Again it's not Geekbuying causing the problem. They don't write the kernel, or software, or make the product. It's like being pissed at Best Buy for selling a bad Sorny TV - Sorny made the TV bad, not BB.

The only thing I could say is they need to fix their return policy if they're going to keep selling these. But I think more pressure from the community internationally needs to be put on Tronsmart. Though, really they have no incentive to release their source software.

They do censor the bad reviews you know...mine and other people bad reviews don't go through. So, if not responsible, they are at least accomplice of what's happening.
