Looking to upgrade from S905X (T95X) 2GB/8GB TV Box

Hey guys!

I rather blindly searched on Amazon for TV Box Android for a few days until I decided it seemed like, according to the reviews on amazon, the T95X was a good balance of cheap price and good performance.

My complaints are all minor things... Wifi on the S905X models are known to be awful, and I don't want to solder a new antenna to it, when it is less than 5 feet from my wifi router (I have all 4 ethernet ports in use and streaming becomes near imposssible with the wifi dropouts on this, after i had to give up the T95x's ethernet spot to a real computer)

I also am searching for a device with bluetooth support and hopefully a little better graphics performance. 1080p performance is not quite as smooth as I would like it. Sometimes I get frustrated with it and just switch to my PS4 instead which kinda defeats the purpose of the android box for the reasons I wanted it.

If anyone has had experience with these, I have not had any devices of this nature since the horrible AllWinner android 4.2 devices from 2014 I believe. I find it mostly satisfactory but lack of BT and poor wifi make me yearn for something with a bit more reliability. I will probably return this to amazon while I still can.

If anyone has had experience with multiple different kinds of TV Boxes I would love to hear your inputs. Is S905X the best thing out there? Should I look for a better S905X box or consider other options?


I have been trying to find out but it seems as this site is mostly divided between different CPU types, i was not sure if there was a location to discuss comparisons of different CPU types and kinds of TV boxes in comparison than here. If i posted this in the wrong section please let me know and I will fix it.

If wifi is unilaterally a problem and everyone is soldering antenna jacks onto their tv boxes i could do the same, but would like to on a better unit

Use your t95x with libreelec. It works flawlessy and reads everything....

Really why do you think it is a bad choice? it is a sunvell and has custom rom available so i thought it seemed pretty good

i am not interested in another s905x device, i want the s912,

the other boxes linked in this thread are s912 as well and i can't find any difference in specs between them, some have wifi antennas which is good admittedly, but the sunvell is available on amazon so i'll have it in a couple days instead of waiting for china mail, and i will use it with ethernet instead of wifi...

but if the others really are better i'll consider returning the t95k pro if you can help me understand why it's a poor choice?

No problem buddy, yeah the T95u did not look good to me either!

I am using Xannytech rom on both my S905x boxes one of which i will reflash on stock and return to amazon, the other i will give to my father to replace his old roku

On my t95x I settled down using the T5X20002 firmware. I tried Xannytech rom but I prefer the stock one.

I would like to find a stock and non-rooted rom that may be used with commercial apps such as Timvision and Prime video (for hd videos), but I still haven't found one.

Most of the times I boot my t95x with libreelec 7.0.3 on an usb pen. The Kodi experience is by far superior (audio passthrough, refresh rate change to 1080p24 when needed and so on).

have you tried XannyTech newest version XTMOD V.2.3 b3 ?
