I purchased a QBox off AliExpress.com - it arrived faster than I expected.

Of course, it wasn't what I expected.

The box came with a non-US plug (not helpful) and also had a more simplified remote than pictured. I've started a dispute and AmEx will take care of me at the end of the day if necessary.


Questions:
If I dig up a 5V 2A barrel charger and get it to power on, the box has the expected USB connectors, but has BOTH a full size SD card slot and a TF (microSD) slot. Can I put a new ROM/software on the full size SD card, or only in the TF slot?

Do I need root in order to get an alternate, SD card version, of the software to boot?

Is there any way through software to check which wifi chip is in the box? The screws holding the box together (under the rubber ring) may be stripped/driven in too tightly to easily extract.

Hello AndyInNYC, Welcome to Freaktab.
You may want to post a link to the device. Firmware is pretty specific to devices, the more info available in your post, the easier it will be for someone to assist you. Wrong firmware can brick a device.

Two card slots, interesting.
Root is not required to flash firmware, at least not on anything I have. Never seen root required.

I don't think any Android app will ID the WiFi module. Likely require a visual ID.
If you have a PP dispute, opening the device might be risky.

Yes seeing more posts of qbox normal firmware fail ect post pcb or photo if main board qbox i got has one micro sd lol

I'm posting this from my phone, so I hope the link works.
The TF slot is on the back and what I presume to be the full size SD slot is on the side.

Llease correct me if I'm wrong.

Well, nobody has replied about the TF and flash slot but ...
I initiated a dispute with AliExpress for the full amount. The seller had 5 days or something to respond and didn't, so AliExpress refunded the full purchase price (specifically with me NOT returning the device).

So now I need to find a US plug and deal with the inferior remote.

Where can I find idiot directions for using new firmware (like SuperCeleron's) from an SD Card only without overwriting the firmware/software as delivered? I kind of need an A then B then C set of directions.

I've written images to SD cards for the Pi before (PBX software), but the process here seems a little different (or not).
