redhate's crappy nexbox a1 thread of dispair.

Tonight after a lot of rigorous testing I have found that my nexbox a1 s912 octacore is doing some really shifty stuff.

I am using the stock 6.0.1 firmware that came on the box but have modified it by removing a large portion of apps and some useless libraries from the back end.

So here is the run down, I cannot use any Bluetooth devices without an active Internet connection. The moment I disable the internet my Bluetooth peripherals all hang. which means that someone is probably monitoring hardware states on the box.

can anyone else confirm that their BT devices will not connect without an active connection for me please?

I have also noticed that there seems to be some sort of tap-jacking overlay in the default browser that shows its tell tale signs by causing issues with the framebuffer like a visual tearing effect coupled with the mouse pointer disappearing.

NONE of these things should happen there is absolutely no reason for a Bluetooth device to be dependant on an internet connection.. there is something gravely wrong here folks. I've spent plenty of time with Linux and nix-like systems to see when some shadey s*%t is going down...

i haven't had time to trace connections with wireshark as of yet but it might be something that should be looked into asap. I have heavily modified the ROM down to a few core components and the issue still exists. which leads me to believe it may be cooked into the kernel but I am not absolutely sure.

if I am wrong about things feel free to tell me specifically as to why this s*^t may be happening but usually when I get a wiff of bull s*it I am generally right...

Smell like /feels like/ if you taste it just might be Hoping his rant isnt generated at any if us here because everyone here solves issues not the cause. This topic has been discussed some boxes come with shady apks. Check do factory reset. Check your update program that it is not a suspect one. (If you know all these things and know how to trace find out do so and let everyone know whats up? ) Shady apk may even be one you have installed. Always ware protection.

Add items like what rom your using as yes it might be cooked into it also add where you got it. Because I no Dev here would do anything like this. That i know is a fact not bull. And without stating that and ranting seems like your blaming someone here.

Facts help clear the issue and the air.
Many devices now mk902ii/Shield/Mk68 /Ugoos/neox5/minix5 (yes they still work lol) mk80 no it doesnt work lol.

sorry about the cussing my mistake. thank you for the edit and not deleting the post.

also no my post isn't targeted at any forum members at all, I am here asking because this is one of the only communities related to TV boxes with heavy enthusiasts! I in no way mean to insult anyone.

i thank you both for the reply it means a lot to me. I have been over here struggling away on my own in confusion testing for a few weeks a number of things I've found wrong.

I fully agree finding another ROM is the proper solution I was just wondering if anyone else had noticed the same issues.

        thanks again guys <3 respect.

i bought the box off a local distributer in Canada a fellow from etobicoke in Toronto, it was a rebranded product the board is a nexbox a1 but was inserted into a generic abs plastic chassis and branded as a "m9s leelbox" I have noticed while poking through the build prop that the target platform was a cyxtech s905x which leads me to believe they just mangled a ROM from another machine and installed it... :|

i am using iptables on a very strict mode, very little is escpaing. i havent installed any apk's to the machine and i am down to about 6 or 7 apk files in the system path. i stripped it right down to the basic core components that are absolutely vital for its operation in hopes that it was in one of the apk's but hasnt helped. there is no *update program* i threw it in the garbage right off the hop lol, i also installed twrp from the get go and have done countless resets during the stripping and modification of the rom.

as far as I know the s912 is a 64bit machine yet this ROM is only 32bit as well... I will hunt down a proper stock ROM and give it a go. I am inclined to point the finger at the "leelbox" company or the distributor himself.

naw i ordered it off amazon, i will see if i can find a link to the distributor. we all know we cant trust people from etobicoke though, i should have known better LOL and sadly i hate to admit it i did over pay for it because i was ignorant. I'll snap up a few images later when i find some time and give them a go, thanks again for the replies i really do appreciate it.

lol @ Brampton, yes many of scammers there as well. I hate to ask but I've been searching this forum for two days and haven't found a link to any of the firmwares for the nexbox a1... I am running out of data fast... I don't suppose you could help a brother out eh? I'm to the point where I wanna throw my phone across the room but know that will not help my situation lol no sense in adding insult to injury. chinagadgets keeps sending me to sites that try to take advantage of browser exploits and its getting me heated.. I rely on cell data only as I am in a rural area.

malware bytes won't clean the kernel which is my primary target of interest.

i don't have the ndk or source for the kernel so cooking my own is out if the question.

So many devices. Lol well i can look for stock? If thats what your need. If you can post a photo of pcb and wifi chip we may be able to strear you to a better firmware (As alot of these devices very close or exactly same as others. ) Super Celerons kinda setting a bar in amilogic devices. And most devices stock firmware horrible.

                      Regards

woo! solved it!!! I guess I had corrupted some components of the ROM somewhere along the way and was restoring a broken image. ffs.. I feel like a donkey. though its still an I correct ROM and a poor build it's finally functioning in a way where I can tolerate it.
