OK, I'm uploading a new ROM based on the file in the download link supplied in the 1.2 thread.

This firmware is dated 7/12 and the build.prop does say that it is SDK 2.0.

I did not debloat anything from this ROM, so all of the Pipo apps are still in place just to see if it makes any difference with Maps. (I don't think so, but you might want to browse what is available that I'm taking out). You have to send an email to Pipo to request the key code to unlock their fancy UI features, though. I can search for that email address on another thread if you want.

I'm not sure whether this is for 3G or wifi only...there was one only file for this release date and it doesn't specify anywhere.

Stay tuned for a link. I named it v1.3a.

If this is the ROM we choose to go with, I will debloat it and call it 1.4 and maybe add some other tweaks like VPN support.

So, downloaded and flashed the new ROM 1.3a.

First impression:

Positive:
Locks really good. They have added a lot of "eye candy" to the image. All icons are different (nicer looking). Browsing through pictures (gallery) seems a lot smoother.

Negative:
Google Maps still crashes.

I will re-install all my apps during the day and continue to test this ROM. As I get more information, I let you know.

Hey guys, sorry I haven't checked in, been out since early morning. So it looks like I've missed out on quite a lot. Here's my update: Well I am currently running the original Riley ROM v1.3 Wifi version (flashed a second time since I had some weird problems the first time) and everything is running perfectly (including my Titanium restores) EXCEPT for the Maps app which also has the black square where my location should be and it crashes when trying to search for driving directions. I get no crashes or black boxes when I uninstall the updates applied to Maps and revert back to the stock version on the ROM so does this mean it's a problem with the latest version from Google rather than a fault with Pipo?

I'd rather not flash 1.3a for now if it just provides some eye candy (is the eye candy only for the Pipo Launcher?) but doesn't actually fix Maps. By the way, I think I might've had the same problem on RileyROM 1.2 but can't remember for sure but I definitely had this problem on the other ROM from ArcTablet based on the firmware from 04.07.

However, if 1.3a is based on the firmware dated 12.07 and is on SDK2.0 then I guess it's technically newer than 1.3 which was based on 04.07? If so then I think you can go ahead and debloat it/VPN support etc. and call it 1.4 unless andbroe came across some glitches...

Hmm, what res are you running at? At the Normal res (1600 x 1200), I got around 16043.

EDIT: I just rebooted into HD and got 14433 so I guess the difference isn't huge if you were also running on HD.

Since Andbroe has flashed it on his 3G version, maybe he can tell us.

There's only one version of the firmware, though.

Can't tell you at the moment, don't have Sim card with me. But all the stuff I tried so far w works well. No complaints.

Will test the 3g tomorrow. But somehow I don't think it is the 3g version. In settings there is no modem power off switch.

I just had to try it. So ripped the Sim card from my phone

But as I though, not the 3g version :thumbdown:
We just have to wait. Otherwise still very happy with the ROM.

Debloated or not did not make any difference, for the Google maps problem. So I would say, continue as before. Maybe you can supply the debloated stuff in a zip file. So everyone can reinstall it if they care.
