Q7 RK3188 Media Box Screen gets dark after a while issue ( XT-Q7-V11) 2014-07-14 [SOLVED]

It's called Smart Multimedia Player Q7. It came with stock firmware etc and everything works fine except that when i watch a movie or do something and there is a dark scene or a dark screen everything gets very dark as if a mobile phone going to sleep. These are the steps i took and none worked.

    1. Checked it on my Other TV Set
    2. Flashed with different types of firmware and finally revert back to stock
    3. Tried certain apps that keeps the screen awake etc.
    4. Tried a Different HDMI cable
    5. Meddled with all the android settings like sleep, timeout etc.

These are not my pictures but it's same as mine.

How do i fix this issue of screen going darker and darker? any idea?

      Well a little dated yes,
Sometimes it just takes a little more time.

      Maybe another power supply

You will have to be patient.

There may not be many users of this device as it's quite old now.

In the mean time it's worth scanning the threads here to see if anybody else has posted a similar problem in the past.

Such boxes came in many flavours with different hardware inside, including a lot of clones, so in order to ascertain the right firmware I would recommend that you open the box and take some detailed pictures of all the components.

The picture i posted is exactly the same even though its not mine because i opened mine and took a very close comparison. If it is really necessary i will do that tomorrow. Thanks a lot for all the help.

By the way i went through those box identification guides. it is exactly the same. Q7 with RK3188 with the same date and motherboard number.

Sir! i just did used the firmware you suggested. It works perfectly, the only problem is that getting dark thing still there as it was before. So i am going to take my TV Box to the mother in law's place and use it on her TV too. I have two LG's and she has a much newer LG. Let's see if it works.

Alright.... finally i have found the culprit behind screen getting dark. I am writing in so anyone who may have encountered this problem will know that it is not a problem with TV box, it's the TV.

I have two LG Tv's, one is bought around 2013 ~ 2014 (32inch smart LED) the other one is around 2015 42 Inch (LED/non smart)

I checked it on a 2016 END ~ 2017 LG 32inch (non smart LED) TV and the problem is not there.

Both of those above sets have the problem with above tv box that dark scenes get darker and darker. My other TVBOX which is nexbox A95X (S905) doesn't have this problem. No matter how i tried, so far i have failed to sort this problem out. If i figure out a cure for this i will post it in time to come.

Hi everybody. I found a solution and finally it worked. There are few ways to doing it. Some are hard and requires knowledge in electronics and there are easy methods too. First i'd like to share the forum page which led me to the solution.

There is a video about doing it in the more electronic hard way. here it is and i didn't try it.

youtube.com/watch?v=RZIgn7GlTGQ ( this is in the post #20)

Method that worked for me was much more simple.

Simply changing the input method to PC worked right on spot for my 42' TV. PHEW!!!

So i would like to thank everyone who tried to help me in this.
