How to update google play on generic android box?

I'm having trouble updating the google play on my box, it will auto update but the box will auto replace it with the factory version, I noticed this because everytime i open google play i get the google play terms prompt.

Android version and do you have root access?

it's an android 6(905x) system, yes it has root, it's auto updating to the google tv version of playstore[8], I manage to install the generic playstore[0] from apkmirror while offline but once online it auto updates again.
