DOLAMEE D5(1GB+8GB) **Modified** firmware With TWRP, SuperSU, Debloat

    Piggybacking off http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-...rp-and-supersu

This work would have not been possible without a lot of help and work from bluesmanuk followmsi

I have taken the recently released stock firmware Dolamee_D5_rtl8189es_RK3229_6.0.1_20170224.img and taken it apart to accomplish the following.

    Removed all excess bloat.
    Removed all home screen apk's
    Installed XBMC Launcher
Installed FTMC-16.1-armeabi-v7a-Build-24-RK-Version (huge amounts of thanks to the FreakTab communit)
    Modified Boot logo
Added DRM Lvl 3 support http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-...-android-6-0-1
Petrus's reboot installed. It just works.
And then modified it to include TWRP and SuperSU.

A few notes for use of TWRP

This is your data and your apps and your settings - the rest is coming from the ROM you are using.

I do the same .. even more in AOSP world.

But you can still try to backup and restore system too .. have a try.
Should work too .. ext4 permissions should be still saved inside the tar backup of TWRP.
Same principle as data .. independent of the selinux stuff.

    Cheers
The kernel that was complied by "them" (whoever put out the stock firmware) was not configured for selinux.

Per followmsi 's quote above strongly recommend backup/restore of data partition of your device with TWRP.

I do not fully understand the ramifications or reasons of this but be warned.

Please be warned, use of this is AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Flashing instructions are just the same as the stock rom. I use Linux_Upgrade_Tool_v1.21 but that is only my preference.

I have uploaded the image file here (updated link)

And again thank you all for all of your help, And good luck to everyone.

I've just flashed this and it seems to work well so far.

I know that some people might wonder how they access the Android element of things with Kodi being the only launcher by default, so just look in the Programs section where you will see the option Android apps.

I would consider changing the build.prop details to show you as the developer as I am wondering whether the default details might trigger any official firmware update that might screw things up.

    Love the revamped Boot animation.

      Thank you. Good input.

I will look into doing that. I'm just getting my box setup. Once I'm done and take a day off to spend with the wife I'll work on that.

In theory this will work on the D32 1+8 as well if I understand right... An I correct?

Yes, any firmware that works on the D5 will work on the D32 and vice versa as the hardware is identical.

I'm running this on my D32.

Wow. Really amazing how much you figured out about modding android roms in such short time! keep up the good work! Makes me even happier about my purchase
Just out of curiosity, could you briefly explain what benefit twrp and supersu will bring to this box? have you been able to backup your rom with it and successfully restore it?

As for SuperSU... I have no explination as to why, but during the process of installing TWRP with loads of help from followmsi one of his instructions was to flash SuperSU. Via TWRP...

Yes, I have backed up the Data partition of the my rom. went back into system and royaly jacked things up and restored the Data Partition and it was back to normal with no errors. Actually I am still running the restored Data partition. Worked well.

Please see followmsi 's quote below.

You may install Xposed via TWRP and have it also fix included in your ROM

He also made a note of Xposed, but I have not dug into that yet...

I was looking into build.prop editing, and the basic idea just to change the developer and stuff is fine,

But I would like to try a bit of tweaking aswell... but incase this fail's Im honestly not sure how to get into recovery without being in they system to use terminal reboot recovery or use the reboot app.

The last time I worked with TWRP or CWM was back in the Razor days..... I remember a button combo after a light blink,, or some craziness like that...

Have you tried to see if ADB from a PC will work?

I haven't tried it with the RK3229 but was able to use itin the past with RK3228.

I haven't been able to connect and over USB on this box at all. And and will only work if the box is booted to system or I'm theory recovery right

Hi, first of all thanks a lot for sharing your works.
I tried both your firmwares the "debloated" one and the "nearly stock" one. Unfortunately I had some issues with both of them:
1-after 20/30 minutes of usage the box becomes completely unresponsive and you have can only remove the power cord to turn it off.
2-I tried to install kodi17 after uninstalling FTMC, but it won't install. So I tried installing the last FTMC build but It also won't install... it seems like there are some files/folders left after uninstalling FTMC. Do you know the locations where I could check? Or is there an install log to find the issue?
                        Thanks!

UPDATE: After some re-try I was finally able to install kodi.
About the crashing I suspect it's a temperature issue as it happens more frequently during intensive operations like kodi's library scan.
