can't seem to flash cx 919, driving me bonkers :)

ok so I got the drivers installed by holding down fn and plugging into the mini usb (opposite the hdmi connector). I installed the win7 64bit drivers. device manager is showing it installed correctly.

so i reboot my laptop, hold down fn, plug it back in and run rom_flash_tool_137.exe but it says no found RDAndroid rock usb. any suggestions? i've tried re-installing the drivers.. any suggestions?

Did you try running the flash tool with admin privileges?

      ok i got a bit further. i was using a usb3 port. i switched to a usb2 and it 's recognized.

but it seems my nand erase isn't working because when i try flashing after erasing, it fails.

the erase only shows a total of 1024, not 2048 (and i have a 2gig stick).

sigh. i got a bit further. i rebooted in flash mode, erased nand. there were no counters, just said nand erased. then i hit the flash rom button and got this far:

annnd... this is as far as i've gotten:

this is retarded. half the time it only erases 1024 of ram, and therefore the flash won't work at all. the other times it seems to erase 2048 but the flashing fails at different parts.

I think I got that error message too when I didn't have the whole contents of the zip file in the same folder. Make sure its all unzipped into the same folder. You should flash that cx919 kernal there from finless 4.2.2 package and then flash everything but the kernel from strauzo's nexus. That's working the best for me.

              thanks for the reply.

              so you're using this rom T428 Nexus SDK2 v1

and the kernel from finless 2.2.2 then?

i assume I need to erase nand, flash the nexus rom, and then flash the kernel afterwards?

you could copy the kernal into the Nexus directory and push the button once haha but yeah that'd work. So I'm having this funny issue where some of my 1080 videos are scaled right and play flawlessly, but others dont! I got the dark knight 1080 and the dark knight rises 1080 One fills the whole 1080 screen and is choppy the other is scaled right and plays like it should... I have no clue what the deal is...

edit: i think it may be a bad video, the first 25% of the movie is perfect, but in one scene the aspect ratio changes for the rest of the movie and then if i pan around the audio doesn't match up.

finally got it working.. i don't know how. .i kept trying nand erase/flash over and over.. eventually it took.

now i'm running strauzo's rom with the finless 2.2.1 kernel. videos play very well in mx player.

xbmc gotham alpha 1 and alpha 5 are no good. I installed xbmc 12.2 XAF which calls mx player and it works pretty well... crashes sometimes but at least the playback is good.

i'm assuming at this point that no one has xbmc gotham working on any RK3188 device yet.

I had thought the best combination was:

T428 Nexus sdk2.0 alpha 2 ROM with the MK908 kernel. Is this not right?

I'm not sure, it works really well with standard kernal, when I was farting around with the mk908 kernal last night it wasn't letting me install apps from Google play. I flashed the finless kernal and they started downloading/installing. I'll try it again tonight.

                      Red-i:
Try dice player, when I used the neon 7 codec on MX it was messing up all the playback on the other players. Or just don't install additional codecs. I'll have to try standard MX again tonight too.

edit: smithmal-strauzo came out with nexus sdk2 v1 that probably has more fixes than the alpha 1

Well I flashed the statuzo rom and now I am trying to flash finless rom. I have a hard time with my pc to detect Cx919. This time I tried different ports and still its not working, I used the same pc to flash the statuzo kernel before, don't know what I am doing wrong ?

Are you plugged into a usb3 port? If so edit the config file in the folder with the flash utility. You'll see a line that says enableusb11=0 or something along those lines. Flip to a 1 and save and try again. That Was my issue initially.

When I tried opening the config file on notepad/wordpad it looked all gibberish. I restored my laptop to an earlier date and now its working. I guess its a temporary fix for now, lets see what happens.

sorry I meant config.ini edit as shown below.

however i was still having issues flashing, i think using a usb2 port is still the best way to go.

and yeah the flashing process can be very finicky.
