can someone help me with the flashing process? i have an cx818 and would like to try this custom rom

also will i be able to install add-ons from xmbchub? do i need to flash this device? sorry im so new to this game and have been doing a ton of reading, just need some guidence please

Why you want to root you can flash it without root. Bring device to flash mode and flash that's all.

Hi neimann,
So as to flash your CX-818 with another ROM which consists of single bla...bla.img file you have to use RKBatchTool.exe.
Before you have to install Windows driver. Both driver and RKBatchTool.exe you can find for example inside any Finless ROM package. Try this link http://cloud.freak-tab.de/public.php...7363409e4f3f37
RKBatchTool.exe is in the "alternate_reboot_to_flash_tool" folder, driver in "drivers".
Connect your device to PC using the microUSB to USB cable. Don't use Power +5V cable!!! Don't use USB 3.0 port!!!
Go settings part and apply USB-Connect to PC(tick).
Your PC will find new unknow device, feed it up with compatible to your Win driver.
Then run RKBatchTool.exe, you will see in Connected Devices section "1" device pink or blue. If it is gray, you don't have driver installed. Try again with driver installation.
When you have "1" device pink or blue, press "..." button in up-right corner, choose your .img file.
Click "Switch" , "1" device colour changes to green and your TV screen turn into black, don't warry.
Click "Restore", NO "Upgrade"!!!
If there is no mistake showed, wait intil your CX-818 show his screen with new system.
Disconnect USB cable from PC and connect +5V PS jack.
Enjoy!

Sorry distant cousin, I never learned Russian. Just a couple of words ... and of course, those similar to Serbian.

Anyways, tnx for the directions. I managed to flash my CX-818 and I'm happy as a pupee. I tried new original firmware and XTV (prefere the second one). I'd like to try NEOTV now. How do I do that?

No problem with your Russian and I'm happy you know the most important words
Well, you have PC driver installed and NEOTVCROM downloaded too.
Now, connect your box to PC with USB cable the same way you did before(without +5V PSU).
Run RKAndroidTool.exe who is inside RKDevelopTool_v1.35 folder.
"No Found RKAndroid rock usb" sign at the bottom will be shown.
Go to the box's setting and click USB-Connect to PC.
You'll see "Found RKAndroid rock usb" line and have Win connection sounds.
Click "Switch", TV screen turns black, it's correct.
Then click "EraseIDB", in couple of seconds give your confirmation with O.K., wait for a while until process is completed.
Press "Run".
Now you have to wait patiently and don't remove USB cable from any socket by anyway, otherwise your box will be bricked! (But it is not a problem at all, because we have recowery button under the Mic/Fn hole).
After your box reboots, new ROM is loaded and you will be able to reach setting menu with mice, you can swith an USB cable off and connect regular +5V PSU.
