    Changing IR remote control

I have a Tanix TX5 Pro and want to change the infra red remote to a better one, as the one that comes with it only has a few buttons - no colour coded buttons so unable to use some functions on SIPTV.

I already have a USB wireless pad with a mouse track pad which is fine for web browsing/getting around the UI but also missing the coloured buttons for apps.

I'm looking at getting this remote which appears to be the same as the Mini M8 SII:

Is it a case of putting the remote file for this remote control (assuming the Mini M8 SII) in the correct location, or will it not work full stop because of hardware incompatibility of the IR on the remote and the IR receiver on the box?

Thanks in advance for any help!

If you have a spare USB port, consider going with a programmable air mouse/remote. The remote shown 13 minutes into this video has 5 programmable buttons - so Android TV Box power can be replicated, as well as a few TV functions.

Thanks for the recommendation! Wish I saw this remote before i bought my touchpad mouse. This mouse pointer looks awesome moving the remote.

The remote looks awesome! Looks like that'll merge both remotes I'm using now in to 1.

Only query, how would I teach it how to use the coloured buttons on Android apps, eg SIPTV (not the TV coloured buttons)? Or are these buttons IR only for TV?

I'm still waiting on two of those remotes from GearBest. Haven't actually tried them yet. They can be programmed by facing the two remotes head-to-head. So I think the 5 programmable buttons are IR only.

This is what I ordered: http://www.gearbest.com/air-mouse/pp_494121.html

          Thanks for the link!

I've found this remote on ****, it's a bit closer to home but has a few more buttons is the only difference I see. Do you reckon it'll do the same job as your one and the one in the video?

I also didn't realize flea bay links were forbidden here. lol

You might be able to gain some insight if your model happens to be user-reviewed at Amazon or GearBest. Here' the Air Mouse section at GearBest: http://www.gearbest.com/air-mouse-c_11908/

              Thanks for the tip!

I've ordered the MX3 / MXIII remote. Seems to be decent from the Youtube videos. Has a good learning function where most buttons can actually be re-programmed.

Should then only need one remote once I've set it up

Looking forward to getting it now!
