Problems pairing PS4 controller in android marshmallow on different android boxes

I bought 2 boxes especially for Android gaming and trying out some emulators, but somehow they both fail to work correctly with my PS4 controller. One is an Acemax M12N, the other an Alfawise H96+ Pro, they both run Android marshmallow 6.0 and both have the S912 chipset.

I can see the controller and pair to it, but somehow I cannot control or navigate with it. Installed apps also don't see the controller so although it's paired there seems to be another problem. When I run LibreELEC from SD card on both boxes, bluetooth works just fine and I can navigate with the controller. Too bad I can't get all emulators to work in LibreELEC so I really need to get them to connect in Android.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

I didn't know I needed a sixaxis.apk, on my macbook and android phone it works natively so I was unaware I needed extra steps for these android boxes. I spent hours looking on google, contacting acemax and gearbest support and nobody mentioned this.

Thank you sir, I will try this tonight and report back!

I tried apk 1.13 yesterday and had a little trouble with the initial setup, but everything works like a dream now Thank you so much for your help! Maybe a little off topic, but since you seem to have experience with sixaxis I'm going to ask it anyway:

I had no problem mapping the buttons in the sixaxis app, but when I run Retroarch for example, X and O are switched. Normally I can change the mapping in Retroarch, but when I try to map a button it's not recognized and shows N/A (probably because the controller is not connected to android bluetooth but a workaround trough sixaxis). So I have another option in sixaxis to make different profiles and load one profile for a certain app. That works, but when I exit the app the original profile is not loaded so buttons are mixed up until I switch back to my original profile. Then there's another option to toggle between profiles but that somehow doesn't work or I didn't configure it correctly, it switches the first time but doesn't switch back. I achieved this by making two profiles for one app with a different mapping for each, is that the correct way?

Maybe a better way would be to locate the keymapping file of Retroarch somewhere in the android system and change the values there? That way I wouldn't have to mess with profiles in the sixaxis app.

Today will be a fun day with lots of testing

            Hi freekdl ,

the X & O can be changed in the App too , then it must work well .

Switching back to stock after gaming , i do it always manuel .

To toggle u must select a button and did you press the + to add

the Icon of the app ??? , otherwise the switching will not work correct .

            good luck

Too bad one of the USB tongues broke off after removing my keyboard and the box died. Guess I'll have to wait a couple weeks for a replacement. Still, thanks for your advice so far
