converting custom roms img to update.img

Hi guys. is there a way to use the custom rom img files as the update.img file that can be flashed from the sd card. like the stock rom i mean.

I think that there is a tool for linux to do that, sorry but I am from a mobile device and I cant check it, but there is rkunpack tool that i use to extract the img files from the update.img and there must be an option or maybe other tool to pack them again. Lewy I think that used that tool in his roms some times.

thx leolas. i got ask you or anyone that knows this. What if i rename for example the kernel.img to update.img. the stock recovery has an option for updating from the sd card if the file is named update.img. just wondering

Nop, that will noy work cause stock update.img have a script inside, once you unpack update.img you got the img files, a kernel raw img, a script , parameter file, bootloader, and I can't remember if some more files. So to use this way to upgrade your stick, you must unpack a stock rom, substitute the stocks img files for the new custom img files and repack

thats what im trying to do. to repack the components of a stock rom into an update.img so that i can flash it from the sd. but i hope it doesnt break my t428. cause from this moment im only guessing.

I never try it too, to be sure better ask lewy, I think he repack in this way some of his customs.

i unpack stock roms with this tool.

its number 4 you must have.

just rename the stock.img to wendal and place it in the extracted folder.
and then click on Runme batch tool.
and then follow the instructions.

thx snakerom but i need to repack the rom not to unpack it. i want to repack a custom rom, any custom rom to a single file like the update.img that tronsmart provides

When you unpack the stockrom then you can repack it again with this tool

Did you replace the parameter also ?
Because the custom system.img is maybe larger then the stockrom
