Installing fan Ubox r89, witch usb header powers off?

Hello,

I was installing a fan in my Ubox r89.But when i power off the box the usb also powers off.
On the board there is 1 usb header and 2 serial ports with 5volt.
Yesterday i tried the usb next to wifi chip, if the box point towards you its left between the sd card slot.But this usb port doesnt powers off when i power off the box itself.Fan keeps spinning, its not what i want.
But the other headers are 2 they only have serial pins, but 5volt.Tx Rx, t1 r1, and 5volt but is this 5 volt circuit the same as the usb ports 5 volt circuit?I dont know off these ports shut off, but i thought i ask before i try to connect the fan to it.And maybe its not good to take 5volt power of those headers, i really dont know...4 sure...Maybe someone here knows more about the board.
Last option i was thinking off, is to solder the wires on the usb slot inside, instead of having a cable coming out off the box with an usb plug.I still can use the usb port, and i know these shut off...Is the same concept.
But maybe someone can give me some tips.

I have fan connected to that internal USB port but it is so quiet (12V->5V) that I really forgot that it doesn't power of with the device.

On the right RS232 port 5V pin is also connected to the main rail and always power on. You might check some testing points on the lower right.

Other option is connect positive wire to the solid capacitor (red mark on 4J2) but it might be risky. Even so someone here done that.

And what do you think of the usb option, solder them on 5v and ground, ist serie and the same as using the usb with an plug and cable...I think its less risky, and the go off when power off...And heay thanks for your comment!!!!

You can do so. Only problem is if you are able to solder it without connecting 5V to the USB port chassis. Ground cable you can leave soldered to the USB internal port GND pin.

Thanks, i solder it to the pins, made an with the cables, and placed them from the board upwards..They fit into the long hole off the pins, at the back off the usb slot.Solder them and i will put some glue later on to make them more secure.....But off course it worked, fan on an off....Now further on with the chassis and the fan placement..!Pictures will follow!

Here the fan installed in the Ubox Beelink R89 Android Tv Box.

When i bought and flashed my beelink, i had a lot off sound drops.Sometimes software related, but i also didnt trust the heat in the box, running oced roms(Mem&Cpu).
One time i picked the box out off my cabinet, and almost dropped it, it was really warm.
Nothing happened but it was a little bit to much, so i thought...lets try a fan mod.
I already tried an older fan, but because it was attached right on the case itself, it produced a lot of sound.Besides the fan itself.


Bought:
3m double sided tape.
Noctua NF-A4X10 fan.
Nexus thermal compound.
Zalman memory heat sinks.
(Stapler.)

I cut off 2 sides of the rockchip heatsink, to make the memory heat sinks fit right on top off the memory itself.The heatsink was bigger then the chip itself, so it still covers it complete.
To let the thermal paste do its work, i used small screws to attach the heatsink on top off the Rockchip3288.


The sound of the Noctua is..Nowhere, very silent fan.But..If i attached it straight on the box, it would only be quiet if the hole in the box would be of the same size as the fan.I didn't like that, so i made a small ''fan box'' like the box on the right side of the Beelink/Ubox.This is very simple, by cutting a small piece off carton, and ''roll'' it over the fan itself.Shape it with 3m tape or a staple.By keeping it next to the box, in line with the backplate, its easy to cut it straight with the sides of the box itself.1 cm lower then the mark, and its straight on top of the sinks if you attach it to the backplate..
I cut the usb cable and at the end of each cable, i shaped it like a small hook.By doing so, it fitted straight on the back of the usb housing between the plastic parts of the housing.The ''hook'' points straight upwards.Solder it on the backside off the usb housing and topped it off with an clue gun.If the box is turned off, the fan is also off.

The fan sits in a small angle, pushes right to the other ventilation hole on top off the sinks.And more important, it makes no noise.
Fan and the box are attached with 3m double sided tape.

Backside with bigger ventilation area, as big as the fan itself.
No noise and an always cool box, plus the sound drops where totally gone, and after a while even with gaming no sound drops.And smoother feeling in overall use!

Nice mod. It looks almost like from a factory . Only power button/LED is in the way.

Gormar , thanks! Nope nothing, its fits like its not there..Cools pretty good, even with gaming its rock solid below 60degree.Whole board is much cooler, no noise and when i turn it off, fan is also off. .
