This ROM is based on the latest firmware from Pipo. Usually, this means there are improvements in performance associated with the latest firmware. You could just as easily flash the official firmware from Pipo to have the latest software for your device.

A custom ROM has other features that you may or may not find important to you.

The first feature being that the ROM is rooted. Which means you and some apps you install (which require root privileges) have read and write permissions to the root system. You can make changes to the system yourself.

Another feature (or non-feature...if you think of it) is that all of the crapware that is installed by the factory is debloated. That means you have the cleanest system available to aid in performance and storage capacity.

Other features like CWM Recovery, init.d/busybox support and a few other tweaks are for more hard core geeks, but add to your ability to modify and customize your system to run scripts and install future tweaks.

One other thing is that I put fixes to allow for more apps to show up as compatible on the Google Play Store.

So, if any or all of those features appear attractive to you, and you are willing to assume a little risk, feel free to take this custom ROM for a spin. While sometimes things may not work right with a custom ROM, it is very difficult to permanently brick a Rockchip tablet. Worst case scenario would be that you would need to reflash the official firmware to get back to stock. Just back up all of your data to your external SD...and remove it from your tablet before you flash.

I have been adding a template for you to build your own zip file to install via CWM. The catch is that you have to already have CWM installed to run it. After you flash my ROM with the flash tool...then you can flash future ROMs this way. You are limited to keeping the same user app space...because the parameters stay the same.

Problems with installing new Rom 1.7

                    Hello averyone,

I bought a Pipo M9 Pro and now I want to root it or to customize it with your 1.7 Version.

I read your .txt but it doesn´t work.
                    I opened the flash tool,
                    turned debugging off
removed the sd card from the slot
                    connected the device

the tool has below writen " Found RKAndroid Mass Storage Usb.

When I click on Reboot to Flasch Mode there come a message " Device can not do switch because of no drive."
                    What I´m doing wrong.
                    Thanks in advance.
                    Gianni

In the rom kit there is folder containing an alternate tool to get into flash mode. Run the RKBatchtool and you will see a pink box for your device. Click the "switch" button and you will be in flash mode. Just go back to the flash tool and continue with the directions.
