Hello.

Is anyone able to play anything in official HBO Go TV app https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...dtv.production (from the Play Store) ? L1 or L3?. I can't (error 5.1) with L3. App activates, I can browse all but it plays nothing. I thought it would run with forced L3 widevine.

Fortunately it works very good in Kodi via addon (in 1080p) but I'd like to use native app.

Sorry, but I have no idea how to do this.
But if it's easy enough for me to do, I would appreciate some pointers.

UPDATE:

After a lot of googling, I installed "Root Explorer" to try and edit build.prop
For some reason I couldn't get Root Explorer to work for me.
So I used ES Explorer to find build.prop....but I couldn't actually edit the file.
So I copied build.prop to my desktop computer and used my text editor.
Found and changed the setting as suggested by @ Magendanz above. (persist.sys.control.topbar=false)
Saved the file and copied it back to the media box.

However, on reboot... it is stuck on the colored circles...have tried a number of reboots & power off with no luck.
Would appreciate some help on what to do now.

I've incorporated the pass-through fix to build.prop as part of a "rolling update", so any new downloads from the links will get it. The update was also run through an older stable build of make_ext4fs that might correct some file contexts and permissions. I'd normally consider any change to the build.prop a "substantive" update that deserves it's own release notes, but I'm just short of time right now.

many thanks for this update, is rock solid in this time use after released, nothing force close app or random reboot, and my box is bad batch.

I use this box for all media, play files mkv and remux with apps SPMC and Amlogic TV Box tool with Auto Frame Rate, many smooth in playback, i use as a torrent box with Transmission, like one mini NAS with Server Ultimate, and is very very stable and a bit more fast.

One tip, this ROM have same problem of the other build date 20180706, the passthrough sound not run. But i can fixed this with editing of the build.prop.

Include this line
media.amplayer.boot_vol=0.2

Comment the line 269 (insert # in start)
#ro.platform.has.tvuimode=true

I tested with SPMC and MX Player and the codec AC3 and DTS is fine run, i not tested HD audio.

I include also this lines, more fast and better picture quality from jpeg files.

The app might have different behavior when running on ATV vs. non-ATV, or it could be a different screen resolution.

Thanks for the update.
I've installed the OTA UPDATE.
I'm using the app RaiPLAY for Android TV ver 2.1.3 from here

When running the app, there is a "title bar" with the blue "RaiPlay" at the top.....this bar is ON ALL the time and is annoying.
Is there a way to remove it?
I have another different brand (Vodafone) media box running its own AndroidTV 7.1.2 and the "RaiPlay" title bar disappears after starting.

That's because these units are actually based on the Amlogic S905W SoC and p281 reference board, not the S905X and p212 reference board as the M8S PRO PLUS was originally specced. Frankly, the OEM pulled a fast one on you and you've got a significantly less capable device, and if I were the victim of this bait-and-switch, I'd be asking for a refund. You bought the M8S PRO PLUS, and what they sent you was a M8S PRO W rebranded as a M8S PRO PLUS.

Does Netflix (ATV version) work with the new update? Or it will ever get fixed at all.

I'm now using CoreELEC from sd card. If Netflix will not work anymore I'll install CoreELEC to internal of this box instead (I bought this box espescially for Netflix).

Looks like you've got a newer version of the OEM firmware than any others that I've seen, one that changed ro.product.device. Please hold off on updating until I reconcile the two. I think I found it posted here: https://www.fshare.vn/file/9YTY37GEDDI5
