The spec says it can play 4k video.
The gpu is the same as SGS4
It has a SATA dock for a 2.5 inch disk

I'll chime in a little here and say that, when you mention that it's got a similar GPU to the Galaxy S4, that's pretty much a yes and a BIG NO at the same time.

The thing is that this GPU is the PowerVR SGX544MP1 where as the one used in the Galaxy S4 is the PowerVR SGX544MP3, difference being that the one in the S4 has 3 cores where this has 1. I honestly don't really believe it when it says that it has 8 cores of GPU under the hood, because they are very unlikely to swap out the GPU on the SoC that is the Allwinner A31, which comes with the single core SGX544. By all means, not a bad chip, but I think you'd be misleaded if you get it, into thinking that it'll perform similarly to an S4.

I may be wrong with this, but I think it's a fair thing to take into consideration. Pull in together the fact that the A31 is an A7 architecture vs the RK3188 which is an A9 architecture... you're gonna get slower speeds, though not that much. Still, the SGX544 will probably do better than some Mali 400MP4's (it'll power 1080p Dead Trigger Just fine), so it's still somewhat of an improvement.

Sources? Well, plenty of internet reading, anandtech and the like, a deep (at least I'd hope so) understanding of SoC's and not to mention I own a similar device (MT6589T w/ SGX544MP1 powering a 1080p display) so I can sort of tell you this much without certainty.

For the most part I call it marketing bullshit though :\ a PowerVR SGX544MP8 is unheard of.

EDIT: Additional reading shows that I made a slight mistake, in that it has a PowerVR SGX544MP2, which is STILL not S4 performance, but pretty damn close.

        Quote from SlateDroid

"From what I've read on AnandTech, the SGX543/544 have 4 USSE2 (Universal Scalable Shader Engine, 2nd gen) SIMDs per core. I'm guessing that's what they meant with the advertised 8 logical cores in the SGX544MP2 (2 cores * 4 SIMD/core)."

I ended up ordering one and received it today. Its OK, a fairly standard TV box. The CPU however is clocked at 1ghz. I have tried to up it to 1.4 using Trickstermod but the box crashes immediately. Strange.

Damn :< I was quite tempted in getting one as well, though a cursory reading online revealed to me the someone buggy firmware (at least on the CS868), and somewhat lack of support for it online :\

            Maybe when times are better.

I hear it's a beast with video playback though (my main problem with RK chips, and the thing I use it most for), do let us know how it goes, and your impressions on it.

Its an OK box, nothing bad about it that I can find. Video playback is great although I haven't tried it with XBMC yet. I may end up ****ing it and buying a K-R42 which seems to have more ROMs and support on here.
