Discussion: Overclocking and tuning the RK3188 at the kernel

so I figure I would make a new thread to help consolidate the scattered Discussion
    what we know
1.: Default Max Core logic voltage(for the 1600Mhz Stix) in the kernel is 1.175 >> bumping this to 1.190-1.21 should allow most sticks to happily run at 1800Mhz or higher

    2.: by default the Memory is clocked at only about 3/4 of what its rated for(800Mhz) Vrs(1300Mhz or 650 X2 @ 1.150V @ 5 5 5 CL 10 or 6 6 6 CL 10) depends on the chips used

these timings could be relaxed to 8 8 8 CL12 and with a voltage bump to 1.25V or so 1600Mhz and beyond should be attainable for the majority of these sticks this will massively help the GPU

3: the Gpu Really doesn't need a MASSIVE bump in speed 800Mhz is sufficient to Decode 1080@60FPS MainHIGH X264 while still leaving some breathing room tho more voltage may be required and i have yet to locate the relevant code for the GPU VRMS
4: research topics: we know that 1080p is still fairly slow part of that is due to various problems with the kernel mainly timing issues and issues with how buffers are flushed and when there is also the probability of issues with to many/incorrect interrupts and problems with Sleepstates
    current devices(rockchip sucks)
Hardkernel ODROID C1 running android kitkat
Hardkernel ODROID XU3-L Running Linux/openelec (primary media server)
rPi model B+ running nothing ... bricked

With sufficient cooling, a little tweaking to the manufactures rating and more, will be an interesting project to greatly enhance the value of these mini PC's.

Do you know of an apps that will list the make, model, speed of installed hardware?

you don't need a APP for that thats part of the OS

what about moding 'Mali-400 ram allocation'
there is a big forum discusion about it... to make (big) games run faster

            ps.. keep-up the good work

no need Android uses Homogeneous Memory
