    [Solved] CX-919 + USB sound card + 5.1 setup

    (solution in the #4 post)

    Hello :]

Got my CX-919 today and flashed it (ty Finless & co).
My plan was to make a nice secondary setup to my bedroom, with cheap 5.1 surround system for music & movies with this 919 + USB sound card + 5.1 speakers.

My question is that how will I get the sound out of the 5.1 speakers and not via TV? Or is it even possible?
At the moment I have connected this "computer 5.1" speaker set to the USB sound card and the sound card to the USB hub - which is connected to the 919.
I guess I could connect the speakers straight to TV, but that way I could only get stereo sound out :/

Sound card: Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1
    Speakers: Creative Inspire T5100

    OT:
I flashed because the 919 crashed when I tried to use it after pluging the sound card to the USB-hub.
First I used only Finless 1.4 but cause the picture started to flicker, I tried the T428 Nexus SDK2 Official V1 + Finless Kernel -setup. So far so good, but can't get the sound out of correct speakers

According to this post, sound out via USB audio stick will work using the Nexus ROM. Of course this was using the T428, but I wouldn't think it would make a difference. Try it out and let us know.

      Thank you smithmal :]

      EDIT:
I got it to work (wrong setting in SoundAbout :P)
It makes this cracking sound now though. And it started to boot up again every time I open any application or so, when I pluged in my USB-HDD
I had this same problem with stock ROM and USB sound card.

I'm trying my previous ROMs again with the SoundAbout again.
The previous ROM stopped to work anymore. Stuck in the penguins :P
I'll be back wit new information in a while.

      EDIT 2:
I can't find a way to get it work. Either it won't give the sound, or system becomes unstable and starts to boot all the time.

Last try was to install different ROMs wit different Kernels and none worked for me. I didn't try to connect the HDD anymore, but still no go.
And also manually copy&pasted those flakeyj / strauzo audio files to the System folder.

It seems that the 919 becomes unstable after switching to "Wired Headphones" option.
I also tried to plug the sound card after I had manually pasted those files and installed the SoundAbout, no luck.

Have to wait some new ROM and try it out again.
      Any other ideas?

        Solution

Okay so after about 20 different ROM+Kernel combinations I finally got it right.
Part of the problem was that I hadn't erased NAND well enough. I had to drive it trough like 20 times to get it close to the 2048.
After I did that I tried some ROMs, but only 1 that works for me is the "official" firmware from Geekbuying ( http://www.mediafire.com/?7b4t6jd3p1gxvv5 ).

So now I get surround sound (I guess), the USB HDD works and I have 1080p :]
Too bad that I have now the "chinese" ROM, but ncd atm.
I hope there will be some nice ROM one day that supports multiple USB-storages and USB audio devices.

I am sorry to disapoint you, but as long as you didnt replace the kernel, you dont have "real" 1080p, all stuff is rendered in 720p and the hdmi output is upscaled with stock kernel.

And to be honest I don't even remember if I got it to work too well after all. I didn't have interest to "fight" with these kernels etc too long, so I just got 2nd PC instead. Fun and interesting thing to try out, but way too "beta" for me.

Not disappointed, didn't write here that I did get proper Kernel also after all when things updated and went on.

Now my CX doesn't even work and I gave up. Didn't have interest to solve why it stopped working.

Yup, it was out of use some period of time and when I tried o use it again, it got stuck in the loading screen and after that I haven't been using it for months. Didn't try to flash it & reinstall roms and kernels. Might still work - might not. Gotta see if I get back on it someday...
