    Pipo U8 lasted 1 hour

Hi I received my Pipo u8 yesterday, to play with it was great while it lasted, which was for about an hour and 30 mins...

I installed a few standard apps like Facebook and antutu then it started misbehaving, would not run antutu after a few tries I decided to let it stand there for a while it went to sleep. Since then nothing happens. Battery was at 85% when it shut down, I tried charging it again the charging red light works but thats it. It doesnt power on, screen stays black. Is there a combination of buttons that could reset it to factory? I didn't even have time to try the Rileyrom.

Any advice on what I should do?

After several tries I managed to reset it, the first few times it had not worked. Do you thing it would be safer to install the Rileyrom to prevent it from happening again?

I would play around with the stock firmware for a little while longer and see if it becomes more stable.

My experience is that some of these tablets do some strange things for a while...right out of the box...and after a bit of use it clears up.

If you are still having problems, it might be a hardware issue.

You are welcome to attempt a flash of my ROM once you determine there are no hardware problems you need to address with the vendor. Many times, their first answer is to download the latest firmware and flash it. Since my ROMs are based on their firmware, you shouldn't have a problem. Just read the threads on my particular ROM and see if others have had any problems...usually there is a solution eventually.

Here is the link to the official firmware:

You need to download the RockchipBatchTool to flash it...not the tool within one of my ROMs.

Thanks a lot is in Chinese , I'm guessing you need windows computer for the firmware upgrade?

Is there an English how-to guide somewhere for the official firmware update?

All I can say is Google is your friend. Most official firmware for Rockchip processor devices flash the same way. Just find an English set of instructions for running the RockchipBatchTool.

The tricky part is in getting the drivers to install properly in Windows. Those are the most important steps. If you get that part wrong, you aren't going to flash.

My ROMs use a different flash tool, but use the same drivers. So once you get them installed, flashing a custom firmware will be easy.
