NOOB - How to proper turn it off? (T428)

Hello, I have a noob question here. This is my first android stick (T428). I installed the finless rom 1.5A and everything is fine, until Utorrent frozen, and I tried to turn the stick off. It got stuck in the shutting down message. And now it's stuck in the boot screen every time I try to turn it on.

Question: What's the correct way to turn the device off? Because every time I turn it off, I lost the wallpaper and date/time settings... Should I just leave it on all the time? Should I look for a "sleep mode" app?

I'm now re-flashing the stick to see if I fix the stuck load screen... But any advice and how to properly shut it down and keep it in good shape will be welcome

if you pull of the adapter then you loose the time , because there is no battery in the stick.
for holding the time you must set adjust over network in settings/time
i use the reboot.apk thats included in the finless roms.
there you can chose power off too.
